You have failure/weakening in the vertical section , the retrace lines appear due to the change in the freq.
Check out small value capacitors in this section. confirm by shorting parallel with the right polarity. Unless you are familiar with electronics please do not attempt unless with help. the fault is not very serious and could be attended with low expense.

My toshiba problem.

You may have bad T-CON board, try cooling it with small fan blowing on the vents of the TV.

I Heard a loud pop and then my picture was like it compacted from the top to the bottom into one tiny line across the screen.

Hi! the loud pop seems that an electronic parts got busted on the vertical section because you have mentioned a horizontal line on the screen. its either the electrolytic capacitor or the vertical ic itself is the culprit.

No picture no sound

Did you mean the picture is collapsed only in the middle horizontally(white line appears on the middle part of the screen)?
If that is the case, maybe vertical IC failed or loose connection.

Hello, one of possible solutions is to replace capacitors (10uF/50V) on HYPER (PD0246) module. Please ask the tech to check/replace them. If you need more info please advice.
