Hold down the center and menu buttons at the same time. If that doesn ot work...switch the hold over to hold and back off and try holding the center and menu buttons down again.

SOURCE: my Apple iPod Video 30 GB Black MP3 Player is locked i cant unlock it

Hi,

You can try to reset :

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1382?viewlocale=en_US

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1320?viewlocale=en_US

If you still have the problem you can try restore :

Note: Because Restore erases all of the songs and files on iPod, make sure to back up any files you've saved on the iPod disk. All of your songs, videos, podcasts, audiobooks, and games can be loaded back to your iPod provided that you have them stored in your iTunes Library.

How to restore your iPod:
For Windows:

1. Make sure you've reinstalled the latest version of iTunes.

2. Open iTunes, and then connect your iPod to your computer.

3. After a few moments, it will appear in the source list in iTunes. If the iPod's display doesn't show "Connected" or "Do not disconnect" you may need to put the iPod into disk mode to proceed.

4. Select your iPod in the source list and you will see information about it appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes windows.
5. Click the Restore button. You will be prompted with one or more restore options that may prompt iTunes to automatically download of the latest iPod Software.

The 4 possible restore options are:

Restore Option 1: Restore - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod.

Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod even though a newer version is available.

Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.

Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with the latest iPod Software on your computer.

6. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started.

When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.

7. During the stage 2 of the restore process, the iPod will show an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remains connected to the computer or iPod Power adapter during this stage.

Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see since the backlight on the iPod display may be off.

8. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

For Mac:

Restore Option 2: Use Same Version - Restores with same iPod Software version already on iPod, even though a newer version is available.

Restore Option 3: Use Newest Version - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.

Restore Option 4: Restore and Update - Restores with latest iPod Software version on your computer.

6. A message will appear prompting you to enter an administrator's name and password.

7. A progress bar will appear on the computer screen indicating that the first stage of the restore process has started. When this stage is completed, iTunes will instruct you to leave iPod connected to your computer to complete restore.

9. After stage 2 of the restore process is complete and the iPod is connected to the computer, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear asking you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences similar to when you connected your iPod for the first time.

Or

Try to reinstall

To update and reinstall your iPod software, first download the latest version of iTunes.

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Next, open the new version of iTunes and connect your iPod to your computer.

Select your iPod in the source list and click "Check for Update" under the Summary tab. iTunes will check to see if your iPod needs to be updated and perform the update for you.

Good Luck.

SOURCE: 30 gb ipod not connecting to computer.

If nobody has figured out this problem or if anybody else is having the same problem I have a solution that could possibly work. I had the same problem so I right clicked My Computer and went to Properties. Click on the Hardware tab, and then click on Device Manager. Scroll down to Universal Serial Bus controllers look for anything that may have a yellow exclamation point. Mine said something like Apple Ipod Driver or something along those lines. Right click that and click Update Driver... Then click Next and it should update it for you and work fine. Hopefully this will help anybody that is having this problem.

SOURCE: 30 GB ipod video

A good place to sell anything at all is on ebay, but I am recently learning about a site called craig's list. On there, it's all local people, and therefore shipping is not across country like ebay is, usually. Otherwise, you might just try getting the word out through a newspaper or through friends, or if you have any used electronics stores in town, they would probably buy it from you, but maybe not for as much as you'd like. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: My ipod 30 gb is also frozen on the language

Have you already attempted to restore it within iTunes?
If not I would greatly suggest taking that approach to you next trouble shooting step.
When you connect the iPod to your computer, if for some reason it does not show up within iTunes; simply reset the iPod and disconnect it.
Next you will need to force the iPod into disc mode.
To do this you will reset the iPod once more, except when the apple icon appears QUICKLY release both buttons and switch to pressing the play and center button until a check mark appears.
Once you see that reconnect the iPod to your computer.
Note: it may take a few minutes for iTunes to pick up the device. I recommend waiting at least five minutes before deciding it will not load.
After that restore the unit as you normally would by clicking Restore within the summary tab that loads when you first connect the iPod. Follow all and any on screan instructions.
Please do let me know if this does not resolve your issue.
If it does not, I would suspect that your click wheel needs to be replaced. You can find manuals and instructions at the following web address.

Frozen ipod

First thing to try is a reset

To reset your iPod:
  • 1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  • 2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.

Ipod 30 gb

You'll need to reset and then resync the device. To do a reset you turn the lock on and then off and hold down the center select and menu buttons, at the same time, for five seconds until you see the Apple logo appear. Then, plug the unit into your computer and sync. In iTunes you'll want to choose to restore the unit. That will erase and then restore your syncronized data, as well as update the firmware.
