There are some software tools to convert VCD to DVD for your reference:

1. ImTOO DVD Creator
It is quite easy to be operated. Its high speed conversion and simple interface is highly recommended by many users.

2. Xillisoft MPEG to DVD Converter
It can help you to burn DVD from MPEG and DAT files (VCD) which means it can convert VCD to DVD easily. The converting steps are similar to the former program ImTOO DVD Creator.

3 Leawo DVD Creator
Leawo DVD Creator could help users to convert more than 180 video formats like AVI, MKV, MP4, WMV, Xvid, MOV, FLV, and more to DVD-5, DVD-9 disc, folder and/or ISO image without quality loss.

Do they play in your computer as a VCD using the DVD player software you use? If you browse the CD in Windows Explorer is there a video_ts folder? In that folder there should be a bunch of VOB files. If there is then it should work. Did you try it in someone else's DVD player?

I use CopyXtoDVD, works great, but so should your software. I am thinking you have a bad setting in your converter or the discs aren't burning properly. Like I said before, check to make sure the video_ts folder is present and the vob files. Also try on another DVD player.

Does Philips DVD634 support .avi or any other format (.mp4, .mkv, etc)?

For reference:
Playable Disc Formats: CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, SVCD, VCD
Playable File Formats: MP3

By the way, if you want to play other formats in your Philips DVD634, you can convert other formats to MP3 or the formats it supported with a Video Converter software. In this case, Leawo Video Converter is a good choice. It has lots of powerful functions, such as,
1. Convert video and audio between all formats.
2. Trim, Crop, Effect, Watermark to edit video.
3. Support 2D to 3D conversion.
4. Add external subtitle and select audio channel.

Maybe it could be help. :)

Dvd player will not play disks that a lap top will. it says can not read disk.

Page 12 of the manual...

Just the CD discussion. DVD is above it on page 12...

CD [CD] [WMA] [MP3] [JPEG] [VCD]

≥This unit can play CD-R/RW recorded with the above formats. Close the sessions or finalize §2 the disc after recording.

≥ [CD] This unit is compatible with HDCD, but does not support the Peak Extend function (a function which expands the

dynamic range of high-level signals).

HDCD-encoded CDs sound better because they are encoded with 20 bits, as compared with 16 bits for all other CDs.

≥ [WMA] [MP3] [JPEG] This unit also plays HighMAT discs.

≥[WMA] This unit does not support Multiple Bit Rate (MBR: a file that contains the same content encoded at several
different bit rates).

§1 Includes single-sided, dual-layer discs.

§2 A process that allows play on compatible equipment.
≥ It may not be possible to play all the above-mentioned discs in some cases due to the type of disc or condition of the recording.

Discs that cannot be played

DVD-RW version 1.0, DVD-ROM, CD-ROM, CDV, CD-G, SACD,

DivX Video Discs and Photo CD, DVD-RAM that cannot be removed

from their cartridge, 2.6-GB and 5.2-GB DVD-RAM, and "Chaoji

VCD" available on the market including CVD, DVCD and SVCD that
do not conform to IEC62107.

What is the proper procedure to convert Avis to Vcd?

Use your favorite Burning software and burn the .avi, .mpg, .wmv, etc.... to VCD of SVCD if that's what you want. No need to convert to DVD and then SVCD as it would just waste your time.

What DVD video formats are supported by BBK? I need to copy video files from my PC to show on TV. PC shows these videos in Windows Media Player. The videos were taken by Cannon camera in "MOV" file format.

Supported Video formats:
VCD,SVCD,AVI
DIVX,JPG

As you see no support for mov files
You'll have to convert these mov files to avi...
Go to http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm and
download the Rad Videotools. This little program helps you convert
all your mov files to avi. Burn the avi files on a cd and you should be able to play them on your dvdplayer..

Converting .DAT files to DVD Files

I guess that this file is from a VCD? If you just burn that file onto a CD as a data CD it should play in your DVD player. The AVSEQ01.dat file is already a (S)VCD file. It is in MPEG format and should be playable on a DVD player as is. Alternatively you can import the file you want to burn into nero vision. Once it is imported then choose to export the file as an MPEG file or burn direct to DVD. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!

How Do I Transfer My Videos To DVD?

In order to transfer your videos to DVD, your computer must be equipped with a DVD Burner and you must use the software provided with the burner. Contact your computer manufacturer for further assistance. If your computer is equipped with a CD burner, you can transfer the video to a CD after you've converted the video to AVI or MPEG format. Playback of the CD will be limited to computers and possibly DVD players that support those formats.
