Question about Ademco Computers & Internet

1 Answer

We have had a LYNXR-EN system for several years. I recently added a 5816 to our garage door in Zone Type 2 with an extended delay. Upon arming the system we occasionally get a fault code for this device. I have replaced the 5816 with a new one. Same result. I have run the "sniffer mode" test and it locates all sensors without issue. The control panel and the 5816 are approx. 30' from each other one two different levels. Any ideas as to correct this problem.

The links to the Honeywell specs are helpful. I am going to purchase a 5800RP and see if this solves the problem. Thanks

Do you have any other 5816 door / window sensor in the house or is this one on the garage the only one?

I get a feeling the garage door vibrates with wind and might be momentarily opening the reed switch. Can you check the firmness of the door at the point the switch is located.

Also generally wireless is prone to signal break especially if other devices at similar frequencies are used, eg. chord less phone, wireless routers etc.

Hard to put a finger on your observation. Try out the 5816 with a window on the same level as the control panel and see if similar false triggers take place.

Yes, I have 5 other 5816's enrolled in the system with no issues. The garage door sensor is mounted on the door frame with magnet mounted to the door and weather has not been adverse.

Is there a signal amplifier for this system?

I believe the 5800 family of sensors from Honeywell (Admeco) offers some local repeaters which could be wired up for collection of wireless sensors and monitored from a central control station like Lynxr.

I believe it is the 5800RP. See installation guide. Not sure if the product is still available though. Found it on the Honeywell/ Ademco site but not enough instructions on how to connect to the Lynxr. Might need a direct wire connection so this could limit the location in your case.

It is priced at about $120 at an Alarmsystem dealers site.

Hope this is helpful. The other option is to temporarily change the location of your controller closer to the garage and see if there is any improvement. That way you can then suspect the signal strength reaching from the garage sensor. In which case investing in the repeater will be helpful.

My Ademco Lynxr-EN went into alarm mode with a number 29. On reading I see code 26, 27, 28, 29 mean low battery pack but what if just number 29 and it shows alarm not just low battery?

multiple low battery ones in sequence , mean a remote low battery. There is usually only one reporting zone on the remote (panic). That would be why only one zone shows alarm.

Why does a 5816 door sensor in my Lynx 5200 system send a fault message even when system is disarmed?

Jon, I am not 100% sure what you are asking about. However, is the keypad shows 'Ready to Arm' when the door is closed and then shows the front door in fault when you open it, then that is how it is supposed to work. When the system sees a door open or movement, then it shows on the zone in fault on the leypad. If you were to try and set the alarm with the door open, the system can tell you which zone needs to be corrected before you can set it. Usually it is as simple as closing a door or window. When the door is closed and it says that it is ready to arm, you are good to set and leave. Opening the door with the alarm off or on will report on the keypad.

Craftsman 1/2hp garage opener Homelink must be under unit to work

Have you tired reprogramming the remotes to the opener?

The opener receiver board may have failed, which happens. You can order a new one from Sears or other places on the Internet, and they are fairly easy to replace.

Once replaced, you will need to program the receiver to you remotes again.

My freezer will not go through the harvest cycle. The ice tray fills with water, just will not harvest. I have continuity through what I assume is the temp sensor when cold, but where is that supposed to...

THE HARVEST CYCLE begins when the freeze algorithm (programmed into the electronic control board) has been satisfied and the sensor arm is out or fully extended. If the arm is in the “in” position when harvest is to begin, a delay of 3 minutes will be added once the arm is moved to the extended position to allow for drawer type ice buckets to be removed for this amount of time without starting a harvest cycle. This 3 minute delay will begin again if the arm goes back to the “in” position anytime during the delay period. This arm is spring loaded to go to the “out” position unless it is being held in the “in” position by an obstacle such as an ice cube.MORE
