I have a service man coming out in a week and a half for my Lr code, BUT my Neptune TL Top Loading washer is filled with water, due to it stopping midcycle with the Lr code problem. I saw online somewhere that I could do a series of button pushing on my control board to drain the tub. Can I get that series?
To pump out the excess tub water while failing to complete spin cycle;
Enter Service Mode by simultaneously pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00”
Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on. Stop with off button or hit the Presoak key.
This process is documented in the Service Manual. I would go to page 16 of the SM lower right hand part of page, Board Output Test and turn on the drain pump in service mode to pump out the tub.
If I could ask you to do a little troubleshooting;
It sounds like the wash/agitate cycle completes and you enter into the spin cycle of the selected wash cycle is that correct. When the wash cycle fails does the Cycle Status LED indicate that the washer is in the Spin cycle?
With a empty wash basket no wash load in the basket and you start a Spin Only cycle will the Spin Only cycle complete?
If the washer will start the cycle do you hear and loud Spin Only cycle noise such as metal against metal grinding noise?
With the washer off and no clothes in the wash basket can you open the lid then Spin the wash basket as fast as you can in the CCW direction the only direction. The wash basket should spin CCW several rotations and coast down to a smooth stop dose it?
I’m checking for Outer Tub increased bearing resistance…..Rich

Amy,
I feel this could be a Motor Controler or a Control Board issue.
I cold be wrong but you may find the repair person may not have a lot of hands on experience with the machine. The cost for the Motor Control Board part number 25001079 can be seen here Clothes Washer Motor Control - 25001079
The Control Board can be seen here
Clothes Washer Control Board - 25001217
See if the Repair tech can bring both board on the 1st visit.
I feel AZ offers the best pricing. I believe the repair tech will have higher pricing but I hope I'm wrong.
I don't feel this is a Motor issue. I have not seen a motor failure in the four forums I support. The Motor seems to be bullet proof. My guess is a failed Control Board.
I have both spare parts and paid less then $60 on ebay used and they work great. Good luck to you......Rich

Amy,
Can you let us know what component the repair tech replaces to fix the ‘Lr” error code with your FAV6800A machine?
I feel from a distance that it will either be the Control Board or the Motor Controller. I will be very surprised if it’s the Motor. The Motor in this machine seems to hold up very well.
I worked with a previous forum member who replaced the TDS to clear the “Lr” error code and that still has me scratching my head.
Good Luck to you……..Rich

Okay, here's the whole scoop. I have contacted Maytag (whirlpool) to have someone come look at this, it is a 2004 model - so I'm sure it'll cost me an arm and a leg! I was headed out the door the other day when I heard a loud noise within the house, turned back in to see if something fell but found no evidence of ANYTHING... except when I came back from the garden the machine was reading Lr and would not proceed. I stopped it and restarted not looking to see what the code was and it filled the basin with water, and did NOTHING else. No noises, no movement, nothing. I can spin the tub easily with no resistance and continuous motion upon stopping (that I can tell). No, the spin only cycle will not complete - starts to drain water (but not ALL of it and that is why I requested the other button series) and then just sits there, after a few mins beep beep beep and Lr on the screen. I am assuming motor issues?? I was hoping the noise I heard was just going to be a belt that snapped... is a loud noise typical with motor malfunction? Or does that point elsewhere? The woman on the Maytag service line did not have a good knowledge base in this area. Thank you so much - Amy
