We have the white and rodgers thermostat model 1F81-261. The problem is that the ac unit will not work. We have reset and changed the batteries and set the point 4 degrees less than the actual room temperature still there is nothing from the ac unit. There is air blowing but it is the fan not the ac unit....please advise.

White-Rodgers 1f86-244 thermostat still shows "battery" after replacing batteries

If your White-Rodgers 1f86-244 thermostat still shows "battery" after replacing the batteries, it is possible that the thermostat is not detecting the new batteries or that the batteries are not properly installed. Here are some steps you can try to fix this problem:
  1. Check the battery installation: Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly and that they are making good contact with the terminals. You may need to remove the batteries and then reinstall them to make sure they are seated properly.
  2. Check the battery type: Make sure that you are using the correct type of batteries for your thermostat. The White-Rodgers 1f86-244 thermostat requires two AA batteries, so make sure you are using AA batteries and not some other type.
  3. Reset the thermostat: If the battery installation and type are correct, you may need to reset the thermostat to clear any errors or issues that may be causing the "battery" message to appear. To reset the thermostat, remove the batteries and then press and hold the "Set" button while reinserting the batteries. This will reset the thermostat to its factory default settings.
If these steps do not fix the problem, it is possible that the thermostat is faulty and needs to be replaced. You can contact White-Rodgers customer support for assistance with replacing your thermostat.

I have a white Rodgers 1f88 300 thermostat (both upstairs and downstairs). The downstairs unit now shows a blank display. Is there a reset? I checked for a battery and it does not have one. Can you help?

Thank you for your interest with Emerson White Rodgers. My Name is Joselito Laxamana from technical department. To reset the thermostat by removing the wires from terminals R and C and removing batteries for 2 minutes. After resetting the thermostat,
replace the wires and batteries. If the thermostat has been reset and still does not function correctly contact your heating/
cooling service person or place of purchase.

NO DISPLAY ON UNIT

Pull your display off wall and see if your unit has batteries. If you have a blue wire or, a wire connected to the "B" terminal in your thermostat(the part connected to wall, this should produce the power to show display. If you do not have a blue wire, it is dependant on the batteries for display. Change out batteries and see what happens. Obviously with no display, your system won't work. If this doesn't solve your problem, replace the thermostat.

yes. you likely blew the low voltage fuse in the air handler. be sure to turn power off to unit and always turn power off when messing with wires.

I have a 1F81-51 White-Rodgers thermostat that keeps resetting itself back to the factory default settings. I've chnaged the batteries, but it continues to automatically reset itself after I have...

I had the exact same problem. Even pressing the Hold button does not really help, because once it resets - the Hold temperature also changes to the default.

I fixed this by replacing the 470 micro-Farad / 10v capacitor in the unit (it's the grey-colored capacitor). To access the back of the circuit board, you will need to break 2 plastic rivets holding the front of the unit to the base.

After replacing the capacitor I've not had any resets for the past 3 days (it used to reset itself every couple of hours).

Hope this helps.

Dear Steven,

First of all the thermostat that you have is hardwire powered. You need to check for the power coming in the thermostat which is the c- terminal. If that is confirmed reset the thermostat, reset button
located on the back of the thermostat body.
If you need further support call the techline 18002842925.
