  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

Ok.. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I TURN ON MY PS3 AND IT MAKES THE SOUND BIP..THEN WITH NO VIDEO ON THE TV OR SOUNFD COMING ITS DOES 2 BIPS AND IT TURN OFF AGAIN,,I HAVE TRY TO LEAVE IT ON A COUPLE OF...

lets try a few things bronx,

lets start by going over the beeps and lights. when you power the unit on. it should go Blue and stay blue. this means the unit is so far functioning correctly.

if your unit turns on lights up blue, then yellow , then red and stays red you have an issue

if you are experiencing the first scenario, press the power button till it goes red. which is standby mode.
then press button again till you hear two beeps, let go. make sure you have all your cables plugged in. this will send you to the diagnostic screen on the ps3 to select anyone of your options. since you are not getting a video display select the display settings and reset yours according to your type tv. if you are using a standard old school tellie, then its 480i, if you are on a plasma or lcd it would be 720p,1080i or 1080p. then you should be good from there

okay, if you are experiencing the second scenario its a much more severe issue. the GPU on the motherboard has gone bad, which is common on ps3s. if it is under warranty contact sony and they will send you out a refurb'd unit. if it is not under warranty there are a few good companies out on ebay that reflow or reball gpu chips on ps3s to repair this known issue.

since you are getting beeps and lights this is one of your scenarios. if you get no lights,no beeps then you got a bad Power Supply.

Good Luck!

Ps3 freezes in the start

When turning on Press and hold your PS3 power button for about 6 seconds. You will hear 2 more bips!
This will reset your PS3 to MFG default. Connect your Composite jacks (Yellow, red, white) from your PS3 to your TV in order to hear and see the display! This will not delete any of your data!

GoodLuck!

How do you change the output setting from hdmi to the rca cable setings? I have no picture screen on my crt tv.

you have to reset the ps3 because you have it with hdmi before and the ps3 is looking for an hdmi connection is very easy and there is nothing wrong with your ps3 ok so do the follow
turn the power switch off on the back of the unit then put your finger in the on/off switch now turn the main switch on the back of the unit you will heard a first bip sound this is when your ps3 turns on ok keep your finger there in the on/off switch until you heard another bip sound now remove your finger from the on/off switch and bingo this will reset your video settings now you can see picture again using regular av and every time you use hdmi you have to do this again
