  1. Make sure the HDMI cable is connected to the HDMI OUT port on the back of the PLAYSTATION 3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI Input port of the TV or display monitor.
  2. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive power button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light --> green light --> then back to red light). This will ensure that you have held down the power button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.
  3. Turn on the PLAYSTATION 3 system and once the system finishes powering up, the Video Output Settings will automatically reset to the standard resolution (or detect the current display output settings of your TV/monitor).

Ps3 wont read discs.................

Try to restore file system on your ps3.
Follow this guide.

HOW TO GO TO THE RECOVERY MENU OF PS3 SYSTEM

1. Make sure the ps3 is plugged in (stand by mode).
2. Put out your usb cable for the controller and the controller itself (do not connect yet).
3. Hold down power firmly, ps3 will turn on and then turn off, release power button when t turns off.
4. Hold down power again, you will hear a beep and then a double beep, when you hear that double beep release the power button.
5. Now you should be seeing something in your monitor that say "Connect usb controller", do just that.
6. After connecting the controller press PS button.
7. You are now in the recovery menu.
8. To fix the problem of corrupt data you can choose #3.
9. If you want to format your hard drive choose #5. Be aware that this option will delete everything that is in your hard drive.
10. Remember that doing #3 and #5 is not 100% to fix the problem of corrupt data, I say about 70%.

Good luck!

I turned off my ps3 system while saving now it wont play any disc

IF YOU ARE UNDER WARRANTY SEND IT IN!Try "restoring file system" first. If that doesn't work listen to the drive very close where you insert a disk. If it sound like it is spinning then you probably have a dirty Bluray lens and alcohol and Q-tip fixes it just fine. If you here a "studder" noise (usually in 2 intervals) then you need a new Bluray lens. This tells you which one you need.

hi i have the same problem with my ps3 60gb i rang sony and they told me to restore it so i did but it didnt work so then they told me to do a full system restore but just as i was about to confirm it i asked will this delete all of my data and they said yes and they told me how to save all my data (over 30 games of data) onto 8gb memory stick2_bing.gif so i backed up all my data then i did a full system restore i am just waiting 3 hours. they said if it still doesent work they will send me a brand new 60gb ps3 so at the moment i want a brand new ps3 so fingers crossed mine is totally fu%&*d but i hope this helps everybody and p.s. dont try fixing this yourself because you wont ever get a 60gb again and you will have to pay a lot for a new ps3 and i might be getting a 60 gb ps3 for free :)
once i have restored it i will update you by tonight.

Wont play ps3 games

try restoring your ps3. My ps3 wouldn't read disc, but since I restored it it's now reading discs. Go to system settings on you're home screen. Then go to restore ps3 system & then go to full restore. It will take 3 & 1/2 hours but it could fix you're problem.

My PS3's hard disk file system is corrupted

There is an alternate way to restore your HDD. Turn off your system and when u see the red light, hold the power button in front until you hear a total of 4 beeps (1 alone, 1 alone, 2 together). It usually works on second try. it should show a screen and say hook up controller with a usb cord. Then it should show i think 6 options. Choose the restore option. it should work.

Hope it works and wish you all the best!
P.S.- I just got the 80010514 error on my ps3 and my ps3 games dont work anymore :(

The start up screen for the ps3 wont let me log in

I was having the same problem. It was COD WAW causing the problems. I had to restore mine to factory defaults 2 days after I played the game but now everything has been working fine. If you can't see anything to get to factory reset, you can turn your power off on the back and then turn it back on, hold your finger on the turn on switch on the front for about 3-4 secs til you hear 2 beeps and it should come up and let you restore from there. Thats what I done and its been 2mths now and still no problems. I was on the verge of sending it in til I found this solution online. Hope it helps! BTW, i didnt do the full restore where you lose all game saves, just the easy one restore factory SETTINGS!
