From your phone call the fax number.
Watch the printer console. It should give a message that there is an
incoming call. Also you should hear the fax noise on your phone.
If none of the above happens, plug a phone into the wall jack that
your fax is plugged into. Call the number from another phone, if the phone doesn't ring...you have the wrong phone number.
If everything above works, you may need the fax card on the formatter replaced.
What you need to do is on the printer, hit the menu/enter button, then scroll through until you see "Fax Setup" click enter, then scroll until you see "fax receive setup", click enter, then scroll until you see "rings to answer". Here can you set it to a higher number of rings, just remember to click enter once you've got the number set to where you want it.
Problem lies in your Receive Mode setting. If you don't have a dedicated phone line for the fax machine, you need to set it up for either Manual where you answer every call or Fax/Tel whereby the Fax machine determines if the incoming call is a fax or phone call.
