Same problem and the Red sags at the top of the screen. Reset inService Menu and Magic Focus fixed slightly, but still major image woes.

I have the same problem now, I've already call repairman last year, charged 680.00 , and just did it again. and when he fixed the TV the auto focus quit working........... help.

My 53FDX20B has a red tint to the picture. Sporting events the grass shows up as red instead of green otherwise the picture is great. Some videos and channels it is not very noticeable but sporting events and some channels show up tinted red.

My television has a very bad [problem with aligment it is showing two colors bothe green and purple and we tried auto focus and it shows that it is not aliged properly and we cannot fix it can you please help us fix the issue

I have the exact same problem.......you just explained it a hell of a lot better than me. In the magic focus was red broken up, blurred and flashing as well as only 3 bars???

that is come from your convergence panel theres
2 ic call stk - xxxx
youe have to replace it and then remake alignement for your convergence you should have it in the menu adjustement then magic focus will finalized and you can replace the 45 volt regulator transistor
hope that give you a idea//and should not be to expensive if you get an honest

Hitachi 43fwx20b Convergence Problems

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung, JVC, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Akai, Pioneer, Hitachi, Zenith, and others. You can get a convergenece repair kit wiith instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms

Screen Looks 3-D
Colors wont align
Screen may look distorted or warped
No Audio/Video - makes a chirping sound.

Problem #2

This is a common problem. Its called a convergence failure.

Problem #1) Convergence

Symptoms:

Screen Looks 3D
Colors wont align
Video may look distorted

Problem #2 CRT Fluid has clouded over. Symtoms

Dull looking video
White looking video
Halos around objects
Red/Orange looking video

As per statement, "the magic focus works great, the colors are bright and aligned" it means the tubes are working ..you need feed a signal to see the picture...the tv video goes muted without signal

Red Alignment problem on a Hitachi 51inch rear projection tv

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. your convergence amp ic's./if you want to cheat/align the other two colors and manualy move the green yoke rings on the green picture tube neck so the green cross aligns with the red and blue.,they shuold form white when all three are aligned,on top of each other.
