The best way to replace it is to call Gevalia and this number is to their import service and they are the ones to call for any replacement parts, and all you need to have to get the right part is the model number and the 4 digit date code located on the bottom of the coffee maker next to the words "datecode".
To order replacement parts for your Gevalia coffee maker call 1-800-438-2542 (1-800-GEVALIA)
Representatives from Gevalia contacted me and determined the product should be replaced with no cost to me. I expect a new coffeemake within the next week or so. Fantastic customer service - not very common any more.
I have this manual (CM500) and can scan/email it to you if you send me your email address...also I am looking for a replacement lid for my carafe for this machine if anyone is looking to get rid of theirs!
wowserz, this is a very common problem for cofee drinkers, including me. if im right its the plastic part that is in between the mug and the filter. this is replacable, but if is broken off from the original place. no need for gevalia coffee maker people just get it for the free coffee.
