options to consider: how old is your samsung,is it still in warranty and do you have the purchase reciept. If in warranty,that is your cheapest way out.
an aftermarket tv repairman will be at least 200.oo
ive see new 40 in apex reconditioned flat screen for 325.00
at walmart online,but not in the store where the price is higher. and with free ship to your local walmart and you can buy a extended 3 year warrantee which is not good if you loose the reciept.
do buy a plug into wall surge protector so that you dont blow out your new tv that you bought on a internet sale from walmart.

I'm willing to bet you have a backlight problem. Turn on the TV, take bright flashlight and shine it on the screen. Do you see the faint image???

I've seen that before with TVs after a fair bit of use, it's caused by a blown capacitor on the board. My suggestion would be to take it into a TV repair shop in your area as it's a fairly easy fix for professionals.

You have A BAD Main Board.

the power supply board is failing and needs to be replaced. VERY! common problem with all samsungs.

Most likely this set has an "integrated" inverter, as most samsungs do--and this DOES sound like an inverter problem. Make SURE thought, there are no more bad "10 volt" caps on the power supply...ALL of them need to be replaced no matter HOW they look.

i had the same problem, you'll have to call the samsung service center. You TV's part which looks after the voltage connectivity has failed. This majorly happens due to voltage fluctuations. The part will cost around Rs. 2800 and service charges will be applied by the company.
