Screen Problem I turned on my laptop this afternoon and immediately saw that abou 2 1/2 inches on the right hand side of the screen was gone. When the machine starts up, the wide strips is white with closely spaced horizontal lines cascading down the page. When Windows starts up the white strips turns to a solid black one and it remains like that. So, I've lost 2 1/2 inches of screen. Any idea what caused this and what the fix would be?

Unfortunately the fix is a new lcd. The tab welds at the top of the lcd are not allowing that portion to work correctly. As these tabs are fused to the lcd you will need to replace the lcd. My Toshiba M105 is almost the same.(I Have 4" Gone) on the right side. so to use it I clicked and dragged my system tray from the bottom to the side. And shrunk my web pages to utilize tthe good portion.

I suppose I should replace it but being only 18months old the LCD's run about 160.00 USD.(sometimes I just hook up an external monitor.
