I have a Dean 2424G Deep fryer that was converted to LP. I'm trying light the Pilot but a) don't know where to put the flame to light and b) not sure if the instructions listed on the inside door for lighting the pilot would pertain to propane.

Use the lighting instructions on the door. Follow the 1/4" aluminum tubing to the pilot assembly and put the match there.

Deep fryer pilot light switches off automatically

First make sure that the thermocouple tube is directly in the pilot light flame. If it is, then the thermocouple is defective.

The pilot is on but the switch won't turn the fryer on. The gas is on but it just wont fire up? Dean Fryer

I can tell you from my own experience with fryers, that they take quite some time to heat up....before lighting.... The probe takes some time to get hot, before it will kick on and light. You normally have to hold the light button on for some time, before the manual fryers will light. I have helped many a customer who cannot seem to get their manual gas fryers to light, and normally it's because they don't hold the light button down long enough. The sensor in there takes alittle time to heat up and it tells the fryer it's time to light. I think people get alittle scaried with gas and just don't hold it down long enough. Try holding that button in longer first, then light it... It should work. If not, call us and we'll try to walk you through it.... Wont start up pilot is lit and thats all it will do

Here are some pointers:
Check first if the unit receive standard gas pressure required on the nameplate.
Ensure that the thermopile is free of soot or any form of dirt.
Pilot flame quality must be good so that it can properly heat up the thermopile.
Gas valve knob must be turned to "ON" position after the pilot is lit.
Thermostat set at temperature higher than present oil temperature.
Wires are all tightly connected on terminals.

Regards.

It could be a faulty high limit, you can also check the high limit probe to insure it is mounted securely against the through tube wall in the grease. Also check the burner, there are baffles that run through it and when they get old the flames don't move though the burner correctly and will cause the high limit to trip prematurely

Gf 40 frymaster fryer

Hi, I am suposing that this fryer has worked good in this location before. If not, check to make sure it is set up right for your gas supply. (LP-Nat) There is something wrong with the gas - air flow in your unit. Look for obvious things first like exhaust being blocked, Flame dancing out side of fire area, Pilot too small, Build up of debris in fire box. The pilot should be able to be adjusted at the gas valve if it is too small. I believe you problem could be taken care of best with a good cleaning of the burner, fire box and pilot assemble. Make sure that all burner holes are clean especially around the pilot light. Check for oily debris inside the fire box to make sure its not leaking into the fire area. If you are unable to do this yourself, contact some one either in the restaurant equipment service business or heating and air conditioning business. Hope I have helped you. kstfas NOTE: If this answer does not rate at least 4 marks, (almost there) please do not rate. Thank You.
