My Whirlpool Model ED5HVEXVB02 side by side refrigerator has stopped dispensing water from the in-door dispenser. About 1-2 seconds of water will come out; then it stops. There is also a very faint buzzing noise heard in the unit while the water lever is pushed in and no water is coming out. If I wait a few hours then another 1-2 second's of water will come. I've tried replacing the filter, and that did not fix the problem. The ice maker still seems to be working fine. I've had the unit about 2 years and this problem started about 2 weeks ago. Thanks

Ok, I show parts that are available for that model, sounds like the control board is defective for your dispenser, or possibly the Ice maker control board. It also could be a break in the wiring or the control itself. Below is a break down for those parts, wiring and the control behind the push to dispense ice or water. Hope it is not that control because some places don't provide that part. check for a child lockout button it will look like a tiny padlock ,press and hold for 3 sec.(could be the freezer door light switch)

I have a GE TFX25ppbaaa refrigerator. The ice maker corkscrew motor would run and provide crushed ice only. The corkscrew motor would not run when the switch was moved to the cubed ice ( half moon) setting.
I replaced the large Light/ water/ crushed ice/cubed ice switch , ( product service number GEH WR55X129 ) ( part number GE 162D6372 PO17 )and it fixed the problem. Cost was about $43.00.
