Drive Engages Hard From New To The Point The Arm Is Bending And Can't Get It Up High Enough To Engage It Into Reverse. It Also Pulles Hard The Cord Will Bind To The Point That It WillTip The Machine. If I Pull Till It Tightens UP And Stop Then Start Over It Will Start. Bought It New And Both Problems Were From Day 1.

Why does it idle at 2,500-3,000 rpm then drop to 1,000 rpm in drive or reverse?

Hi Paul:
Here are my random observations:
- 2500 to 3000 is really high for "idle"
- Putting it into drive or reverse engages the transmission and puts load on the engine through the torque converter. Since the RPM is high enough that the vehicle thinks it should be moving, the transmission will engage and rpm will drop since more power is needed.
What to do? How long since tuneup?
History? Did this just start immediately, or did it sneak up a bit at a time.
Make, model, engine, year, Kms or miles. Give us some info and someone who is a better transmission specialist will probably kave some more ideas.
Cheers.

4x4 not engaging 97 chevy 305 high/low light flashes but wont engage in either

Try putting it in nutrual / park engage 4 wheel drive then place the truck in reverse and drive backwards for about 5' sometimes helps if that dont its probably the motor that engages the 4 wheel drive on the axle

No forward engagement in drive position

If engine revs go high and no forward movement you most likely need a new transmission

Pt engages when i raise cutting past #3 height

Sounds like you either have the wrong belt, or have the belt routed improperly. If you have the old one, compare lengths exactly, but it sounds like as you raise the deck (it moves further back when you do this) it tightens the belt enough to engage.

Before pulling it off, I would make sure the flat of the belt is touching all the flat idle pulleys and the groove of the belt is sitting in the groove of any drive pulleys. If this isn't the case, you've probably routed it wrong somewhere. If you have a diagram, follow it from the drive pulley on the motor point for point back to the drive pulley regardless.

If not it's probably just a slightly too short belt.

Hi...my wd hard drive was dropped and now makes a static ticking noise when plugged in and wont work

the clicking noise is the reader arm jumping across platters on your hard drive you have a dirty hard drive first clean all the dust from your hard drive using a high powered suction vacuum cleaner or a fine air blower from a air compressor making sure there is no MOISTURE in the air lines then give the hard drive a firm tap on the side to free it up
make sure the lead/s that attach to this drive have a secure seating and are not bad/faulty the light on only tells that its getting power it might not be getting enough power you might test the lead/s or
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,

hope this helps

2000 Subaru Outback transmission problem

After a good deal of research and several shops suggesting a rebuild of the transmission, I decided to have the trans fluid and filters changed before doing anything. It was a tough call because it could have been a waste of $125. As soon as the spin off filter was removed you could see it was blocked. So the hydraulic pressure in the system was way down, still enough to engage reverse and enough to work all the shifts, but not enough to engage forward without a slight tap on the accelerator.

My Subaru has 240 000 km on it and I suppose the clutch pack rebuild wouldn't hurt, but as it is now it engages quickly and shifts up are noticeably smoother.

May not be the solution for every case, but it solved my situation.

Reverse engages HARD!!!

Check for trans codes then I would suggest a fluid change if there are no trouble codes, many times these kinds of problems are caused by a little piece of dirt causing a shift solenoid to stick.
