With this amp the main culprit is the Pulse width modulator i.c marked HIP4080, 9 times out of 10 replacing this cures the problem but may go again in the near future. If when removing the cover there are burn marks around the larger components around the edge of the printed circuit board then more involved problems exist! Thanks, acbva.

If you amp is in the PROTECTION MODE its means that there some defective part , like for example the main ICs or TRANSISTORS output might be defective , and thats why its on the PROTECTION MODE , needs to be taken to a expert technician for repair.

Best and correct way to wire speakers to amp

Power up the ampwith no speaker connected. If it goes into protect mode, the amp has been damaged.
If it is OK, check your user manual for wiring instructions, loading etc.
Do not allow the speaker wires to touch the car chassis/metalwork!

I just got a HS10 sub from Kicker and the red protection light is always on and I can't get it to work is there any advice y'all can give me to see if I can get this thing to work thank you ?

It sounds like you are having an issue with your Kicker HS10 subwoofer. The red protection light being constantly on could indicate that there is a problem with the subwoofer that is causing it to enter protection mode. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check all of the connections to ensure that they are secure and properly connected. Make sure that the power and ground wires are properly connected to the battery and chassis, and that the RCA cables are securely connected to the amplifier and the subwoofer.
  2. Check the amplifier settings to make sure that they are correct for the subwoofer. The amplifier should be set to "low pass" and the crossover frequency should be set to a frequency that is higher than the subwoofer's rated frequency range.
  3. Check the subwoofer itself for any visible damage or loose wires. If the subwoofer has been damaged or if there are loose wires, it may not be functioning properly.
  4. Make sure that the subwoofer is not being overdriven. If the amplifier is producing too much power for the subwoofer to handle, it can cause the subwoofer to enter protection mode.
I hope these suggestions help you get your Kicker HS10 subwoofer working properly. If you are still having issues after trying these steps, it may be necessary to contact Kicker for further assistance.

Would a Kicker DX250.1 250W 2-Ohm Mono Class D amp work well with a kicker dual 12" c12 subwoofer with 600watt peak?

you really want something closer to 600 watts. if you arent careful, you can overdrive the amp, since the speaker isnt seeming to mind the volume, and the resulting audio distortion can damage the speaker

I have 2 15 inch L5 solo baric subs and need a amp?

the 15" l5 is rated at 750 watts rms so i suggest you get an amp with atleast that much power because if you get a amp weaker than that you run the risk of clipping your subs and blowing them

I have 2 kicker l7 wanting to wire to best olm with hifonics 1200 mono

the best way to wire it is @ 1 ohm, but your amp has to be a 1 ohm stable amp. i'll attach some pics for you. this wiring depends on what ohm your subs are.

Amp goes into protection

make sure the impedance is right for the amp you're using. If you're using a 4ohm amp and a 2ohm sud that may be the problem. It may be overdriving the amplifer which is bad and can cause damage to the amp. Hope this helps.

2 12" kicker L7 subs. zx1500.1 amp. subs quit when i turn it up

It is possible that you are not providing enough current to the amp. It will go into protect mode if the current sags. What do you have running as a power cable. And also, your ground should be just as big and bonded very well to the body.

What amp size do I need

If the subs are going to be wired at 2 ohms you will need a class d amp that is 1200 watts at two ohms rms i would say you should probably be running zero gauge wire and at least a two fared cap
