I have a Super Nintendo that was acting kind of funny and suddenly died. It started when I accidentally dropped my snes. It still worked for a while even after I took it apart and cleaned it. Then the sound was only playing the bass and I took it apart again to check the sound module(the metal box thing that can come off in the older ones) and put the sound module back in. Kept working and turned out to be my speakers messing up. Randomly it wouldn't power on at all after I did this and then came back to life a few days later. I started testing some old games one by one and then it died again. I'm wondering if turning it on and off repeatedly when switching games did the job.
I have tested the AC adapter with a volt meter, and it works fine. I took the switch out and put a wire on the leads to make sure the switch didn't die, I saw a small spark when the wire touched so it is getting power but the light still didn't come on. I checked the fuse again with a meter and it is good. Could it possibly be the sound module or am I missing something?
Sorry for the long post but it's getting annoying after testing it over and over.
I'm having the same problem currently actually...wtf SNES! I actually bought a second SNES because I thought my old one was permanently broken but as soon as I got the NEW one in the house the OLD one booted back up... the only thing I can guess is that it burns out from time to time because of the age.
