Where does the colloid pipe go on the engine and what does it do?

ok rocky, the colloid pipe is attached to a rubber elbo that fits on the side of the carburetor it goes to a aluminum pipe that goes to the pvc port. this is why it wont run. the pvc works off the engine vacuum and sucks gas as needed. if it is not hooked up it cant suck. this is why it runs when you pour gas in the carburetor. i hope this gives you an idea.

Making whistle noise on off on run and stopping.

There are basically two types of whistle noises.

* Whistle when you get more gas (increase RPM, put gas pedal, sometimes just idling but louder when you put more gas)
This usually intake-side leak.
Intake manifold itself, intake manifold gasket (most likely), even airfilter housing, Airflow meter housing (connector), anything where air goes to engine.
usually engine get rough or unstable idle when intake leak occur.
Engine knocking or pinging may feel.

* Whistle when you decrease RPM (engine brake, reduce speed, sometimes just idling but louder when it dropping RPM)
This usually Vacuum-side leak.
There are many vacuum hoses in engine room. even inside of cabin (heater control, etc)
Try to spot where it coming from.
Vacuum also connected to Brake servo, heater control and spark timing.

Put metal or plastic pipe (small PVC pipe will work fine) to one of your ear then isolate source of noise and find where it come from.

Hi, the carbs have one horizontal screw on the left side , just undo one or two turns and the old gas will come out, also let some new gas run out for cleaning
Good luck

372 xp only runs on full choke. carboration, air, and fuel filter good. is their a vacume system for the carboration? am i missing something else?

There is a pulse to work the diaphram carb, this is a black pipe from the crankcase, to the pump cover on top of the carb, this feeds a positive and a negative pressure to the pump as the piston rises and falls, if the pipe is cracked, or has come adrift it will greatly effect the running

Have a 1996 cj7 straight six carborated jeep. It was running well then slowly started having problems running. It began to shut off when I would begin to break or come to a stop. Now it will not start. I...

96 with a carburetor??? Didn't come that way? Regardless, Only one I've seen that I can remember that had a problem like yours was in storage and a chipmunk had built a really big nest in the exhaust, completely blocking it off. I'd remove the exhaust pipe on the engine side of the converter and see if it runs. A blocked cat can do the same thing.

I have an 88 ford broncco 2 eddie bower edition and i have replaved both fuel pumps and it still wont start unless you pour gas into the carborator then when the gas in the carborator runs out it dies

you may have a gold coloured filter that screws into your carb. Unscrew it and check to see if you can blow through it. It may be clogged. Also you can check for fuel at carb by loosening the fuel line going into the carb. Crank engine after loose. Should have gas coming from it.

Fuel not getting to carborator.

The filter is external. Located on the passenger side frame rail, about 4-5 ft from the tank. round, metal (or if previously replaced-- might be plastic). Are you sure you have a carb? 1988 models were throttle body type fuel injection. If it is TBI, you may not be getting power to the internal fuel pump. Are you seeing a fault code (the check engine light flashing)?
