ok,, look under the mower bed at the cutter hights,,they should be both the same hight,,if one of the cutter heads are out of alinement then you could have hit some thing when cutting,,or it could be the new belt pulling the mower over to one side maybe the bearings in the mower have worn out thereby throwing the cutter head out,,or one of the cutter head blade's are bent down even blunt blade's can make the cut out of true,,,to be honest without seeing it its realy hard to know whats wrong with it,,but at least you have a fuw things to look for,,hope this is of help

Sounds like the shafts for the blades have shifted in the spindles. A bent blade only causes vibration but not stepped cuts, remember it is rotating. In addition deck heaight is not an issue side to side then the cut would be sawtooth in appearance.. If stepped cut then it is a problem with the spindles and bearings slipping in the deck.

I have a John Deere LA105 Riding Mower and when I mow it leaves a strip of grass in the middle. Left and right sides are cutting fine. I have taken the blades off and shaarpened them and have leveled...

jack the tractor (using a tractor jack) or remove the deck, measure the blade tips against each other where they meet in the center of the deck and see if they are the same tip to tip. Bearing wear, a bent deck or blade can make them cut at different heights in the center.

I purchased a used Craftsman LT 1000 17 hp 42"

I've had to do this at least 5 times. If you look under the body, there are two supports that carry the mower deck and lift and lower it. Each of these has a nut that holds up the deck and the nut is on a stud that goes up and down when you raise or lower the lever. Put the deck in the middle of it's range, around #3, make sure the key is off, move your blades so they are on the right and left edge of the deck.
Get yourself a device to measure blade to ground height, I have a block of wood that is 3 inches long. Make sure your floor or ground is level and tires are properly pumped up. Then raise or lower the adjustment nuts until both sides are equal height.

LA110, 42" mower deck, 1

Check that the cutting tip of the blade that is cutting lower is not bent down. Also park the mower on a level surface and lower the deck and check the gap under the front of the deck is even. If not, there are levelling adjustments on the top of one side of the deck. Regards Phil

42 inch jd la115, hit stump in yard, changed blade cause I thought I bent the baldes still cuts uneven. Could the shaft be bent or broken? It appears to be cutting properly on the right side but the left...

try pushing the blade up into the deck,,,if there is any lift in it there is the fault,,the top nut has come off the blabe drive pully and let the drive shaft drop a little this will lower the cutting blade,,,fix it before the blade falls right out

How do I raise the blades

there should be a big bar on the right side of the mower that changes the deck height. if it only going up a little look for a height limiter dial on the other side of the mower about where the height adjustment bar is on the right side.

good luck and be careful!

Left side blade cuts about an inch lower than right side , the left 21" when cutting is about an inch lower than the right 21", looks terrible, checked tire pressure and that was not the problem

measure the height of cut from the ground to the bottom of the deck all the way around, if it is the same the blade or bearing housing is at fault, if it is lower on the left look for a bent or broken mount from the deck to the tractor on that side.

2003 DLT3000 Craftsman riding mower. Air in tires correct, deck level front/back & side/side, new blades.. Still cuts uneven. Does this deck flex when cutting tall grass & how do I fix this...

when you put the new blades on did you notice if they were even with each other? the 42" decks have a tendency to "warp" inward on the left side. this causes the left blade to ride at an angle to the right blade - there is a tool to correct this, but not all shops have it - sometimes you can remove the deck, flip it over and wallop the inside edge of the left mandrel until the blades are even - a 2 lb. sledge works well for this

Craftmen mower doesn't cut well on right side

Sounds like you may have made a common mistake, getting one or both of the blades upside down.
