I've never figured out how to access the images on the memory card. I've taken the card out of the camera, now what do I do with it? Is there a way to plug it into my computer?
Yes it is possible (although some memory cards are easier than others). You need a memory card reader with the correct slot for SD or SD/MMC cards, depending on your card. (There are lots of memory card types but most will include an SD slot.) You can get USB or internal card readers (which fit a 3 1/2 drive bay desktops) at most computer parts stores (Cyberguys.com, TigerDirect.com, etc). They range in price from ~$10-$60 dollars depending on the number of slots and other features.
Once you have the reader installed, place your card in the appropriate slot and look for it to come up as a new disc on your Computer. Open your Photo program and access the images from the disc. If it doesn't show up, there is a problem with the card or the reader.
In some cases, reinserting the card in the camera and using the camera to computer USB cable works better. I'm not sure why - it might be a formatting issue. (The card reader might look for the data in a different pattern than the one that the camera formatted the card with.)
I hope this helps.

Testimonial: "Thank you Cindy for your help. I think what I'm lacking also is a cable to link the camera and the computer, I don't seem to have anything small enough. Your advice appreciated "
The USB cable is Nikon USB Cable UC-E6. This cable is available at several retail sites including Amazon.com, Walmart.com and Nikon.com. It is a A/digital camera USB cable (mini-B but 4 pin/5 pin isn't listed in the specs - I've got cables with both). The cable also has a block to minimize interference around the cable on one end.
I hope this helps.
