Blocks of Colour displaying

I bought a display model/factory second Samsung LA40N81BD, it initially worked well, but after a few hours began displaying only range of different colours repeatedly, from a bright pink/purple, to green, to blue, to red and then to a block of 4 horizontal lines, from the top down: red, green, blue, white each taking up around a quarter of the screen.
While it was doing this nothing is displayed, not even the TV menu, though sound is being output correctly via optical cable, and the remote is responding (can hear channels changing etc)

after a few hours it started working normally again, and after being turned off overnight is just doing the colours blocks again.

Our power went out due to the snow storm, and the display panel shows 88 on each side...how do I reset this...will this cause the fridge temp to go up?

From http://www.samsung.com/us/support/supportMain.do

Your refrigerator is equipped with an onboard diagnostic system. If the diagnostic system detects a fault, it will display a specific line segment on you refrigerators LED display. If your refrigerator is displaying an error code, please note the error code, and reset the refrigerator by unplugging the refrigerator for 30 seconds. When the refrigerator is plugged in, it performs a self diagnostic check of the various sensors and functions. If the error code reappears your refrigerator will require service. Please click the "Create Online Service Request" button below this article to initiate the service process. After a power outage the display panel may start blinking "88 88." If you unplug the unit for 30 seconds then plug it back in the display will return to normal operation after several hours. The power outage/surge can cause a communication error between the circuit boards in the unit. It can take several hours for these boards to stabilize.

If the display does not reset, go to the Samsung Support link above, enter your model number, and follow the prompts to request a service ticket.

Good luck, and if this helps, please rate my answer!

Samsung RSA1WTMH i just blew my fusebox and my fridge freezer just flashing 1 led light

Hi,
hope the following helps you, I had a similar problem with my RSH1 and it took me a few hours searching online before I found the following.
"Hi, I have it on good authority that this is the system check for Samsungs (RS21, SRS20, etc) during normal operation, is to hold the top two buttons down, just until display flashes - this will reset the electronics.
Secondly, if the top two buttons are held down for longer (8 seconds) the display goes blank and will show any error messages in the form of DASHES
I have experimented with unplugging air or frost probes - and the error code you get -on a blank screen is different parts of the last digit lighting up.
Example: when i disconnect the fridge air-probe, shut both doors, hold down top buttons around display - The SIDE of the last "8" digit lights up ! ...strange but true.
But, I need to know what it means when the BOTTOM of the "8" digit lights up"

I am still trying to find a list of the error codes the lines refer to but so far my unit is working fine.
