I just purchased a new Echo CS-400 chain saw. Prior to shipping the saw, the shipper removed the bar and chain. Apparently while removing the bar, they jammed the chain brake into the locked position. The brake lever (front hand guard) moves freely, but the small metal brake connector that engages the hand guard is jammed forward and won't release. I've opened up the clutch cover where the chain brake mechanism is located, but can't see anything wrong.

I don't quite understand the question but, If you are trying to remove the bar on your saw, First it should have come with a tool that looks like a screw driver on one end and, a wrench on the other end. Now!! turn the saw on its side with the Two Bolts facing you. You use the tool to loosen the bolts , just loosen !! next use the screwdriver end to turn the little screw inside the small hole just down from the bolts OK? Turn the screw , which loosen's the chain. Now take the bolts off and put them somewhere SAFE so you can find them when ready to put back on. Pull the plastic cover off , chain off, NOW YOU CAN REMOVE the BAR . I hope this is what you need.
take side cover off and remove screws that hold the pump bulb in place and remove the gas lines make sure you put the right one back on each side.the one that sucks goes to carb. and other goes to gas tank.
There are 2 listed based on serial number I think, you can download the other and an IPL here: EchoUSA http://www.echo-usa.com/documentation.asp If your saw is not listed type "CS" in the “Model:” window, click "Search" and select your saw from the list provided.

I just replaced the primer bulb on my Echo cs-305. I didn't find the parts list too helpful.
It's easy. All you have to do is remove the air filter and look at the existing bulb from the bottom-- you can reach in with a screwdriver and pop the 'feet' holding it in place off their catches. When I put the new one in, I attached the tubes using a pair of needlenose pliers.
