Windows 7 and 8 much the same (32 and 64 bit) you may missing files for Internet Explorer.

Just today I was able to get PhotoSuite 4 to work in Windows 8. PhotoSuite 4 (P.S. 4) is dependent upon Internet Explorer 5 (I.E. 5) browser for its content/software to work. The original P.S. 4 CD has
I.E. 5 installer, I tried to install and the install quit with a check box to force install of all components. Internet Explorer 10 for Windows 8 was not affected in any way, that's how I got back here anyway.
I have read ton's of suggestions and one mentioned I.E. Browser dependency and walla it was the answer that took me ten minutes to get it up and running.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Running MGI Photosuite version 8.05 in Vista

MGI Photosuite on Vista, THE FINAL SOLUTION!!! First you need to get hold of an MGI disc or a download. I have been trying to get MGI Photosuite III SE to install on Vista for months without success and then when I thought I'd finally sorted it I could not launch the program due to a script error. You do not need Virtual PC, Virtual XP or any add-ons. Simply find and right click the the MGI setup file, check the run in compatibility mode as Windows XP SP2 and install. After install, send a program launch shortcut to your desktop, right click, go to properties and check the Windows XP compatibility mode once again. Finally, while you still have the compatibility screen open add a tick check to Run As Administrator. Hey presto my beloved MGI Photosuite is back! MGI is fantastic for being user friendly and simple, and although I know other users insist there are better programs, I’ve tried loads and I still think it’s a winner.

SOURCE: Will mgi photosuite 8.1 work with windows 7

You may try installing it in windows 7 and check. If you are unable to install it then I suggest you to install it in windows XP compatibility mode and check. First create a restore point before trying this step.

Hi,

I had no luck with Photosuite 4 on Windows 7, even with backwards compatibility, vista or XP, but Photosuite 8.06 loaded up and appears to work okay, it is older but does seem to work on windows 7.

I have been using MGI photosuite 8.1 for a number of years. Now I have a new computer with Windows 7 and it will not install.I need a 64-bit version of a new Photosuite. Tell me what to get and do....

The MGI company has been bought by Roxio - all their products are no longer updated or supported.
The new ones from Roxio don't offer the same tools and cost more. Instead of them you should get this
http://www.amazon.com/Corel-PaintShop-Photo-Pro-X3/dp/B002J9V9BO/ref=pd_sim_sbs_sw_1
Not only it's much more powerful than what you had but it works on an 64bit 7 OS

What MGI Photosuite will work on Windows 7?

I just installed Photosuite 4.0 on Win 7; 64 bit. Works just as great as it did with ME and XP before. Since MGI sold out an error message pops up about some liquid something. I think it is a dead URL to the former MGI site.

If you have the original CD's then follow next:

Two computers ago, and two operating systems ago I purchased MGI Photosuite 4 software. I have been using it for about 10 years. I have hundreds of collages saved that require the MGI software to read and...

Wndows installers have changed over the years, so it's not a surprise that the program couldn't be reinstalled. The Roxio Photosuite 8 is listed as a Win2000-XP product; so it may not be the correct release for Win7 either unless you use a workaround. Look here for the current Roxio slide show products: http://www.roxio.com/enu/store/photo.html?rTrack=m_pro_photo

Workarounds: go with a dual-boot or virtual computer system. Win7 Pro and Ultimate let you run a virtual XP computer for free (download two programs - the virtual PC software and then XP mode). All other choices will require a licensed version of XP installed either in the virtual computer program or in a second partition for dual-boot. I've found that files can not be transferred directly from XP mode to the real computer; they must be stored on external media. Then install your software as you would on any stand-alone computer.

I hope this helps.
