It's bad/weak batteries. I had the same problem using Hyundai batteries, thought the camera had broken until I used Duracel instead and it worked as it should. Batteries don't last long in digital cameras full stop, but decent brands like Duracel will help.

I have just put photos on my desktop bit there is a blue arrow at bottom left corner of each photo and I can not edit, send, also when I go back to my camera to view them a file error message on screen

You didn't put the photos on your Desktop. You only placed a shortcut there. Do a search for the photos by using one of the assigned names or photo numbers in the search and open the file location.

Where do i access drivers for my hitachi hdc-1005e digital camera. the OS is Windows 7

On Windows 7 you do not require a driver for this camera. Switch the camera on, plug it into the USB cable, plug the other end of the cable into a spare USB port, on the camera LCD screen, select "PC", Windows will then see your camera as a portable drive, simply copy the photos from that drive into your photo folder.

NEED REPLACEMENT MANUAL FOR HITACHI CAMERA/ HDC991E

First you have to make sure you are searching with the correct name:
I did some research, and it seems that your camera will be:
hitachi HDC-991E
Search Ebay.
Search the Internet with a search engine such as Google, Yahoo, etc.
You may go to the website also and find what you want.
It seems this camera may only be sold on the Internet and in England (as one has said), that may be a problem to find anything for it.
But, in any case, it should not deter you from searching, you may come up with something.
You can also as questions here, somebody may be able to answer what you want.

My camera is a hitachi 991e, it cannot read the sandisk 4g memory card, do i need to adjust settings or should it just read the card automatically

Since the 991e accepts both SD and SDHC, it's not a compatibility problem. I suspect you might have a faulty card, or it's not formatted. Try formatting the card in the camera, and see if it's useable afterwards.

Hello,
1.Remove your SD card from the camera.
2.Insert it to your laptop card hole
3.If a window opens opens automatically then just drag and drop your photos to where you can find easily.
4.If a window does not open then click to My Computer
5. Find your SD card there.
6. Do the instruction number 3.

That is all.
