I have a apex 1225 DVD player and the buttons on the front ( the open/close button) broke off the little box that hold all 3 buttons together. Is there any place I can get a replacment part to repair this problem?

You're talking about a computer?
If the eject button isn't working, look at the side of the cd tray. You'll see a very small hole.

Get a paper clip, straighten it and push the straight part of the clip into the hole.

That should release the mechanism and the tray will click open

Try the steps below these processes are called a power scans, there is a different type for any equipment needed. This should take 5-6 minutes per item to program.

For DVD/VCR's:
1.) Press and hold the correct VCR/DVD button (about six seconds) until all mode button backlights come on, then release.
2.) Press 222 pound (#) then record three times.
3.) With the desired equipment on, press and hold the VCR/DVD button until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 3 seconds), then release.
4.) Press and release the Power button.
5.) Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
6.) Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.

For TV's:
POWER SCAN
1.) Hold down the clear "TV" button on the remote for four seconds, then press 500 pound ( #)
2.) Hold down the clear "TV" button on the remote for four seconds, press the big power button once.
3.) Press the channel up button once per second until the TV turns off then press pound (#).

For any other equipment:
Power Scan AUX
1.) With the desired equipment on, press and hold the correct AUX button until all mode button backlights illuminate (about 3 seconds), then release.
2.) press 0 for a TV, press 1 for a VCR/DVD, press 2 for any other device, then press *.
Press and release the large red Power button.
3.) Press the Up button once a second while pointing the remote at the desired equipment. If the code for the equipment comes up, the equipment will power off.
Press the POUND (#) button. If the code entered is valid for the remote, the mode light flashes three times.
With any of these methods verify the code works by trying several different functions for that equipment.

Press and hold thedesired mode button until all mode button back lights come on, then release.Then enter the numbers 1757 for your Apex DVD player, and then press the # key.The mode button should blink 3 times. The remote should now work with the DVDplayer. Please remember to put the remote back into satellite mode.

Almost always, your described problem could be caused by:

• stuck disc;
• fault in the load/eject mechanism.

It it were a stuck disc, the correct fix would be to open the unit and manually extract the erring disc. However, there may be possible workarounds:

• unplug the unit for an hour or so;
• press and hold the eject button while plugging in; or
• unplug the unit for an hour or so;
• invert the unit (bottom side up);
• plug back the Apex and quickly unplug soon as you hear the mechanical noise start;
• revert to normal position and try ejecting; or
• while still in the inverted position, press and hold the eject button while plugging in but must unplug quickly even before the tray starts to move out.

Opening the DVD player tray is not as hard as you would think.

1. Remove three black screws holding the outer cover on the unit (located on rear of unit)

2. Carefully remove front panel trim by gently prying six clips (3 on top, 3 on bottom) away from unit and pulling panel away from unit.

3. Locate opening at the front of the DVD player that houses a larger white gear.

4. Using a finger, gently move gear until DVD tray begins to move outward.

5. Continue until DVD is fully ejected.

6. Try plugging the unit back into AC outlet and attempt to Open/Close the tray using the provided button on the Front Panel Circuit Board.

7. Reverse steps above to put unit back together.
