How do I open my emachines ez1601-01 all in one pc

I've heard/read that I can bump the RAM to 2GB, but I'm looking for information on how to open this all in PC (without damaging it). It looks like you have to remove the plastic legs on both sides, but I want to be sure of this first.

Go to the Crucial site. They make memory and their site will scan your PC, then tell you how much memory it will take.
From there, it will also give you an idea of how to open your PC to install the new or additional memory.

Good luck,

    1. Turn the machine upside down.
    2. Get a thin bladed scraper or filler knife with the flat end of the blade about 1-1.5 inch long.
    3. Insert the flat end of the blade in between the two halves of the casing.
    4. Turn the blade carefully, and pop the two halves apart.
    5. Work your way arround the case carfully pulling it apart. It is easy to snap off the connecting parts.
    6. Now the front of the case will come off, disconnect the on off button loom.
    7. You can now unscrew the legs if you need to, and the screen. The works are behind the screen. Do no touch the back of the screen only the sides.
    8. Diconnect the two looms from the mother board on the back of the screen.
    9. You now have access to the mother board, dics drive etc.
    10. Reverse the process to reassemble.

I just wanted to get the legs off to fit the machine on my boat. Job done.

From the manufacturer's web-site:

you are correct in the maximum RAM size.

The "product view" pages do not show any "easy" access (i.e., on most laptops, remove one cover to expose an empty RAM slot) to put RAM into an empty DIMM.

So, it seems that a "complete" disassembly will be required. Good luck. Be careful that you don't break anything.

SOURCE: Opening pc tower

eMachines ET-1641-02W uses an eMachines eCooper computer case,

1) UNPLUG the computer from power.
2) FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

Anti-Static Precautions:
Your body carries Static electricity. Static WILL fry out (Short Circuit) the delicate hardware components inside a computer.

Relieve your body of Static BEFORE reaching inside your computer,
OR before taking any computer parts out of their antistatic bags, or cartons.

TOUCH an unpainted surface, of the metal frame of the open computer case. This action will relieve your body of Static.

IF you leave your computer (For ANY reason) in the middle of working on it, be SURE to Touch the metal frame again, upon your return.

3) Facing the Front of the computer, the left Side Panel removes.
There are two Thumbscrews you loosen.
(SHOULD just loosen, and not remove. Sometimes the C clips on the Thumbscrews are so loose, the Thumbscrew will come out))

There is a fingergrip molded in the Side Panel.
Pull the Side Panel back by this fingergrip, then bring the top of the Side Panel out, and remove the Side Panel.

There will be cables in your way, and wires.
I lay the computer down on it's side, on a static free clean towel, on a table. Opening of the computer case facing up. A LOT easier to work on.

There are two ram memory slots. They are Black in color, and have white Locks. (Locking 'ears') They are to the Right of the Processor socket.

The ram memory slots have Locking 'ears. These are hinged. The Top is brought to the outside. This brings the ram memory module up out of the ram memory slot, and unlocks the ram memory module.

Handle the ram memory module by the BODY. The Body is everywhere on the ram memory module, except for the gold plated contact pins on the bottom.
The Body is coated with a see-through protective plastic.

Note the Side Notches on the ram memory module, and a Locating Notch on the bottom,

The above is an example of DDR Sdram. The eMachines ET-1641-02W Desktop PC, uses DDR2 Sdram.

DDR Sdram has 184 gold plated contact pins. 92 one each side.
DDR2 Sdram has 240 gold plated contact pins. 120 on each side.
The above photo is used for reference of the -> Notches.

Note that the Locating Notch on the bottom is actually off to one side, a little.
It lines up with a Locating Lug in the bottom of the ram memory slot.
The ram memory module can ONLY be installed in one direction.

When the ram memory module is deemed to be installed properly, and tightly, the Locks will have their 'bumps' in the Side Notches.

The Lock's 'bumps' do not fit ->exactly in the Side Notch. Close is good.
When the Lock is brought into the correct position, there will be a click sound.

IF, you use just ONE ram memory module, make SURE it is in Slot 1.
(DIMM 1 on motherboard) This is the ram memory slot that is closest to the Processor.
The Processor reads Slot 1 -> F-I-R-S-T!

SOURCE: I have purchased two 2Gb Ram sticks that I want to swap out. When I open the eMachine EL1352G computer up it appears as if I must remove the DVD/CD drive to gain access. Is there an easier way than th

If memory serves the optical drive swings out of the way.

I also, (All cables removed), lay a static free towel down on the table, and lay the computer on it's side, on the table. (Opening side up)

[Be SURE to follow Anti-Static Precautions BEFORE reaching inside your unplugged from power computer; and during working on it.
Make sure you align the Locating Notch of the Ram Memory module; with the Locating Lug in the ram memory slot, when installing.
Locks on each end of ram memory slot click, when the ram memory module is correctly installed.

I have an eMachine desktop/tower 3230. I need bios upgrade for extra Ram ...

Hello visit emachine here:

And select your pc model by number.

Remember to select the right model, because flashing the bios with a wrong one will destroy the mainboard.

I have newer heard that a bios upgrade was necessary to upgrade the ram.

Some mainboards do have a limit of 2gb ram, and the bios upgrade does nothing to that.

Try to clean the pc out for dust, and renew the the cooling paste between the cpu and the cooling element.

One of the ram modules could have a defect.
Try to test one module at the time.
If you get the blue screen of death, the problem is elsewhere like power supply, or harddrive.

Good luck

Looking for video card suggestion. have t6216 w/896mb RAM

i have a 7300gt nvidea in mine right now... ok, but not the best. runs dx9. and it helps to get the bios update from the emachines site to help with nvidea compatibility. To run most games now, you might need more ram, and for the price, a barebones with your old parts thrown in might be a better deal. The 7300gt is pretty cheap if you are just looking for a quick cheap upgrade for now. It works with the original 300 watt psu and works ok for me with 2.5 gb ram (2-4 gb extra ram realllly helps!). I think tiger direct has some nice deals on barebones and cards, it kinda changes daily.

Just installed 2 2GB cards (Corsair VS2GB800D2) to replace the 1 1GB card in my emachines EL1200 series. Computer will not boot. replaced the old card and it booted right up.

Will it boot with only ONE of the 2GB memory-sticks installed?
Will it boot with ONE of the 2GB memory-sticks AND one of the 1GB memory-sticks?

Look closely at the 1GB memory-sticks.
Does the label show 'DDR266' or 'DDR333' or 'DDR400' or 'PC2100' or 'PC2700' or 'PC3200' ?
Do the 2GB memory-sticks have _identical_ information?
It's definitely _not_ acceptable to have "slower" RAM (smaller numbers) in the new RAM,
but it _might_ be acceptable to have "faster" RAM (larger numbers).

I have increase the ram from 512 to 2 gb in my emachine desktop, after i restart moniter not getting the video signal. how to fix it?

OK when you increased the ram from 512 to 2G, your hands usually bump the video card and loosen the connection... Crack open your PC again and re seat the video card... This is all pertaining if you have a separate video card in that computer. Just unplug the video card and re snap it in.

Model W3621 running Vista. What chip(s) will I

From what I read on their site you need 1 stick of DDR2 memory built for 2GB. Open the machine and see how many memory slots you have. The site said 1 but sometimes there are 2 slots for them. If there are 2 slots but only 1 is filled then you need 2 sticks of ram built for 1GB each. If there is only 1 slot then you need 1 stick built for 2 GB. Pop the old RAM out and install the new RAM. Power the system up.

I need upgrade my memory and need manural to learn how

Hi there.
Your computer will support 2x1GB (2GB max) DDR2 SDRAM.
Installing it is surprisingly easy!!!
Remove the power cord from the back of the tower and then take off the side panel so you can see the motherboard, then look for the ram (memory), it looks like this >>>>>>

The slots the clip into look like this >>>>>
You will will have only 2 of these slots and they may differ in colour, all you have to do is push on the cream tabs to release the memory modules and to put it back in just make sure it clips into place.
Please post back if you need anymore help or advice.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!
