I received a text message while reading a text message and ever since then I have not been able to make outgoing calls on the phone. I couldn't open new text messages directly either. I would have to go into an already opened and read text message then scroll up into the "new" text message to read it but the "new" text message would till register as unread but my main concern is not being able to make outgoing calls with the phone. Thanks!
SOURCE: blank display
You seem to have a issue with the Flex Ribbon Inside. The Display has a Flex ribbon that connects to the keypad area. there seems to be a fault with that ribbon. this is common problem with **** shell phones/ Slider phones.. best solution would be to take it to a repair shop. unless you have warranty.

SOURCE: Cant open text messages on Altel Phone
I got my problem solved. I called ALLTEL and they walked me through MIN and MDN changes. Apparently, when I got my phone, it was supposed to be a new phone but it was a refurbished one. Things they dont tell you. Anyway, Im all set and now I can send and receive texts. Call your carrier and explain the issue, they should be able to solve your problem. I have already posted this but thanks for asking. I hope this helps someone else.

Hello,
there is nothing wrong with your screen, the problem is
from the flex that connects your screen to the phone's main board. This
flex must have worn out that's why your screen is not displaying any
picture.
The problem is common with flip and slide phones. The
flex gets worn out as a result of constant opening and close of the
flip or slide phone.
I would urge you to replace the flex and I
am assuring you that your screen will display picture again. You might
also be lucky to find out that the flex is not well fix, that is, it
may have loosed contact.
If you cannot change the flex yourself,
maybe you should take the phone to a local repairer within your
vicinity, so that the flex can be fixed/replaced.
Good luck.
