I would like to know the PC Operating System, is it XP or Vista ?
If this is XP there is a Print Spooler Reset which you can try Uninstalling Printer s/w may not help here
On this website you will find the FIXIT - download and run the Fixit
Follow the instructions and click on RESET PRINT SPOOLER and continue till it prompts you to restart the PC
Once the PC is restarted and you see the Desktop - Disconnect the Printer USB Cable from Printer or PC and connect it back. it will install the Printer Drivers or prompt you to insert the disk to install..
Uninstall Vista because there are too many protections on software that used to work on XP. Vista was discontinued because of this. try installing XP service Pack 3. All your problems with anything in connection with Vista will disappear.
click start-->run -->type services.msc--> u would see the list of services ---> find "print spooler " ...make sure it is "started " ..or the like possiblity is that u may have installed the printer drivers that came along for xp. .....is so , disable "lexbec " under services list . ........and reinstall/ dowload the vista drivers from your printer vendor site .
From what you're saying the windows print spooler service is not starting following the installation of your printer (and thereby you cannot print i'm assuming)
try the following to start the print spooler service if it is not already running.
Right Click My Computer
Click "Services and Applications"
Scroll down to "Print Spooler" and double click on it to open up the properties page
where it says "startup type" select automatic from the combo box list
If the service is NOT running, start it by clicking "start"
The print spooler service is started now, and **should** work properly. If the spooler is still not starting properly, then you may have a driver issue and i reccommend uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers for your printer.
As described by you , there might be an issue with teh spooler service of your computer , u can follow the undermentioned steps that might help you.
Open a Command Prompt window
key the commands net stop spooler 2. In the run (Start Search for Vista) type : c:/windows/system32/spool/drivers…look for w32x86 folder. 3.Inside w32x86, there will be folders with the names 2 and 3 (one or more of these may be absent - not a problem) delete all of the files and sub-folders in each of the 2 and 3 folders, but not the folders themselves. Inside 32x86, there may be other folders with names starting with "Hewlett-Packard", "hphp" or something else; delete these folders also. 4.In the run (Start Search for Vista) type : c:/windows/system32/spool/printers: delete any files there. By default, this is where the print spooler stores print files. 5.Open a Command Prompt window key the commands 1. sc config spooler depend= RPCSS (note the space after the = but not before) 2.net start spooler
Cleaning from Registry: 1.Take backup of registry: 2.Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers
There might be two entries names Version-2 and Version-3 under drivers: click the plus sign against them and remove everything under them.
Then click the plus sign against PRINT PROCESSOR, which is under DRIVERS and make sure there is only one entry i.e., WINPRINT. If there is any other entry, just remove it.
I had the same problem and like you couldn't find the solution and was verrrrrrry frustrated. Last night I loaded Vista Service Pack 1 (RC1). THE PROBLEM IS NOW FIXED. If you aren't comfortable loading a "beta" version you will need to wait until the first quarter of 2008.
