How do i fix my Power Acoustik LT-980/2 car amp, it keeps on going into protect mode.

Disconnect all speaker connections and rca cables. Leave power, ground and remote wires intact. Try turning on again. If you still have a protection light your amp is faulty. Hopefully you have warranty . .A thumbs up would be greatly appreciated if this answer is helpful to you

How do i find how many ohms my amp is because i cant find it here the name of my amp is poweracustick lt 980-2 of 980 watt i want to know that so i know what speaker to hook up with

According to a listing on epinions, it appears that the amp is 8 ohms per channel standard, and can be bridged to 4ohms.

One post says that he has it bridged to 4 ohms and is getting 560 watts of output.

I couldn't find a manual for it, so you may want to contact Power Acoustik to be sure.

LT-980/2 Car Audio Amplifier: Looking to see if I can hardwire a Power Acoustik ...

you want to use a car amplfier indoors in the house

yeah that can be done very easily
just wire it like you would inside a car but you need to purchase a 12v DC adapter
i would go for one with at least 3A output (the bigger the better it depends on how much u wanna spend) from personal expericance 1.5A works but when it gets loud the amp stops and restarts

Hello, your problem is that your amp is rated at 4 ohms bridged mono ans 2 ohms stereo. If your running it in stereo you need to raise the ohms to 2 ohms a channel and if your running it bridged into 1 channel you need to be running it at 4 ohms. Lt960-4 power acoustik Amp 4 channels mono

it can be used as a bass amp. if each pair of channels is bridged then you will basically have a 2 channel amp. just be sure to set the x-over's to lpf for subwoofers. I checked the power ratings, and bridged at a 4 ohm load will give you 250 rms watts per sub, so thats enough to run most 10's or 12's. there wasnt a rating for a 2 ohm load, but your amp should support it.

HELP

Disconnect all of the speaker wires and signal cables from the amplifier.

If the amp still goes into protect when you power it up, the output transistors are likely shorted.
