First of all thank you for contacting Fixya.com regarding your TV problem.
You didn't mentioned if the symptoms remain the same in all inputs, this is to isolate the AV board from fault. If you are using HDMI connection, I would advice you to try the other inputs like input 1-3 at the rear panel and the Audio/Video input at the side panel using the RCA cables. If there's no sound after trying other inputs, then this is an indication that the fault is in the audio circuitry inside the TV.
The DIY steps that I would advice you is to check the resistance of the internal speakers using the multimeter set in resistance measurement. Good speakers will read between 6-8 ohms (for 8 ohms impedance) and you can hear a crackling sound upon testing.
How to test speakers
RCA Cable Connector
If the speakers are in good condition then the fault either the supply voltage line of the audio circuitry from the power supply board, the audio processor on the main board or the sound output circuitry. This require technical skills because series of test are going to perform to isolate where the fault came from.
Immediate solution.
You can still watch your favorite channel and movies to your TV while the sound is playing through your home theater system or amplifier. Just hooked up the video to your TV terminal jack and the sound/audio to your home theater system or amplifier to bypass the sound from your TV.

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. To get the sound repair, it can be from $150 and up, so if you can put up with using the good set of Powered PC speakers which actually give better sound than the tiny speakers inside the TV, I would keep using it that way, you may want to find out if the on screen sound setup will allow you to set the audio line out to be VARIABLE which means the sound output feeding the PC speakers can be varied using the TV remote control, then all you have to do is to set the PC volume to about half way up and set the TV volume to what ever you want..
ok sound on the rca itc222 chasis comes ofd one curcit board. This board is called the small signal board. but before we get this replaced we have to elemate a few things. one check you audio setings and make sure the amplifer is set to internal. also you speakers could have blown. and the connectors to speaker unlikely be loose. If these items are elemanted then the small signal board. a item that only technicians can replace. they have special computer interface they use to download data from the old to a new board when they replace it
The deflection circuits are what makes the set have high voltage to light up the Tubes. You can get replacement deflection board for your model from www.tvrepairworld.com
I fixed mine. It was one of the channel buttons on the top of the tv. You will need to figure out which one it is. It has five prongs that are soldered into the board three on one side two on the other. I clipped the two prongs side on the channel down switch and mine works great now. It will run the channels up on the tv but works normal with the remote. If the channels are running up it would be the up switch for example. You will need to remove the back to get the switch panel to slide foward to service. Disconnect power for about six hours before you mess with it as it holds power around the picture tube that will bite you.
