Check the power supply first for bad caps, bad solder joints, etc.

My friend Maurice gave me a L32HD31YX16, no picture
no sound, after four hours of research and trouble shooting, no
schematics.
I had no +12 and no +24 volts on the power supply board. I did have the +5V.
The
repair is an 85 cent fuse under the blue transformer, There is a 200mA
fuse, green with a "C" on it, at location RB8 (1206 package).
I
went to the shack bought a 250mA glass fuse and holder for 5 dollars
just to get it done. So far the unit has run for an hour.
