Start the computer, and keep pressing F8 until you get a "boot" menu -- white text on a black screen.
Select "safe mode with command-line", and see if Windows will start.
If it does, enter 'CHKDSK C: /F' to get Windows to check the integrity of the file-system.

Then, find a friend with a genuine Microsoft Windows XP CD-ROM. Boot from that disk, and choose "repair", and see if the boot-process can "repair" your installed copy.

I installed a new WD 500GB hard drive in an HP Pavilion 513n as a master and have a 60 GB hard drive as a slave for backup data. Both are set to auto in the BIOS. Every time I turn the computer on even...

I think, in BIOS setting your first booting device is the 60GB HDD. change it to HDD0 as 1st boot, CD Drive as 2nd boot and HDD1 as third boot device and it would not ask any error report.

Hallo, i want to get a new hp 513n motherboard because my old one is not working, but i don't know where. Is there some way i can get a new one? if yes. what is the mopdule of the motheboard

Here's a parts outlet selling the 513n motherboard (it's $150):

You might want to check Ebay or someplace else - the whole computer's market value is not worth $150 today.

Hp pavilion 513n tries to start up then turns off

This is a case where something that is getting switched on during start-up is causing the power supply to fail... probably due to a short. How ever I believe the short is in the power supply

This is an older HP model ( I have a 530N) with teh same problem. I bought a new power supply and installed it.

My mom has a Pavilion 513n desktop. At boot up it

you're receiving a "No POST" issue. It could be any base component in your system. Strip it down to the bare basics. Power supply, motherboard, RAM, CPU, fans. HDD. Then start removing those components until you receive an error message. You'll be able to figure out which part needs replacing from that.
