You need to calibrate it by using a calibration disc

You should get the Avia disc

You can find them for sale everywhere online by just searching "Avia disc"

You could probably get one from an electronics store otherwise too.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Thank you for using Fixya and Good luck

Hi Psybill

you possibly have a power supply problem. It will be running high volts, and blooming the screen as a result. I suggest you get this sorted quickly, as failure is eminent:)

Oh... and then I read it is an LCD. Disregard my solution mate, It does sound like the set is in the wrong mode. You will need to go through the onscreen menu to find the aspect settings and correct the problem. If you cannot reset the aspect ratio, then the set does have a fault.

    regards

Just called Sony about this same problem...taking your CABLE BOX remote, push the # key on the bottom right of the remote (it also says HD Zoom on mine). You can cycle through 4 or 5 zoom options...make sure you are on an HD channel to see the changes. :)

Picture too big.

HDTV's come with selections that will change the screens display, on the remote press the format button and you should be able to find a setting that you desire.

Try locating the aspect ratio adjustment on your cable box if you have one.

Picture size won't fit screen. Can't see scrolling text at bottom (e.g. sports scores on ESPN)

hi there,

its probably not the tv but the set top box you need to fix. go to the settings and select the mode you want ie. widescreen 16:9 etc

then go to the tv and select the full mode or widescreen mode at 16:9

that should solve your problem. it takes some time to find the combination between the set top box and the tv to get it right

good luck
