The camera powers on fine, although it has a black screen with no image. What type problem is this and is it fixable or not. When I go to look at the pictures I took while the display screen was blacked out the screen remains with no image.
I just turned on my camera the other day and I can still acces my menu, I can see the camera details in the corner and even view old pictures but when I turn it on eveything else is black! I can't take any new pictures because of the black screan. Is this fixable??? I think its just past its warrenty..any solutions???
I have the same problem. Never had a problem with the camera before. I have tried to download new software from Nikon, but could not find any. I have remvoed the battery, taken out the memory card and reset all settings to default with no success.

Yes it is fixable. if there is a friction in the movement of the lense cover blades this happens. If it is due to fine sand or dust try using a soft brush with a rubber pump fitted at the back so that it cen blow the sand off the camera. The problem is not that big for going for a new camera.
If you can play back images ok ( colour & resolution normal ) but in capture mode you have no image then the CCD sensor in your camera is faulty. Replace.
Yep the percieved advice is not fixable do to cost and the rapip advancement of new models
If it is out of warranty - the maker may offer swap out exchange for a reasonable price.
