Thank you for the reply ELOBYAN. Do the 2 screws you mention have to come out completely. I have loosened them to a point where they do not want to turn out anymore, but the screen will not loosen at all. Should I pull out where the screws are located. I have a Loewes service manual but it does not cover the screen removal just the circuitry and part list. I appreciate your help and thank you again.

A 2mm Allan Key either side 6 inches up from bottom of glass filter. Loosen then pull out from bottom then lift up to release the top and lift off. If the dust is still visible you can remove the next screen to access the diffusers and wipe with a dry cloth. Make sure you take note of the position of the light diffusers when reassembling.
