Kenmore 80 series washer

I have an 11 year old Kenmore 80 series. The water fills like it should but then I have to jiggle the speed knob to make it start agitating. One of the speeds (fast/slow) is not working at all now and the slow/slow speed is the speed we must jiggle. The other two speeds work fine but I don't use them often. The cycle timer will continue to go...as if the machine is agitating during the wash cycle. The rinse/spin work fine. Please help.

Your transmission is not engaging thats why the speed changes your making will sometimes get it to work.Honestly any machine after the 10 year age mark is not worth the cost of replacing the transmission.

How do I check and replace the water level sensor on my Kenmore 80 Series Hvy Dty Washer?

Try eserviceinfo.com/index as per your 80 series. There are various downloads there that may help access the water level sensor which is most likely the problem.

Washer wont spin in the spin cycle.Washer was full of water and making a buzzing noise. If you have any suggestions what it might be that would be great. Kenmore 80 series washer about 11 years old.

sounds like the lower bearing on the trans mission shaft is seizing up on you. had a frigedair that did the same thing. i took it apart to replace, but could not buy separate. it only came with a purchase of a new transmission, which ran $175- 275. so i junked it out. washer was only 5 years old.

Kenmore Series 80 also won't fill

the pressure switch is inside the console with the timer on top of washer, it is the round thing with a rubber hose stuck onto it ,,, if you have a know that you can set for water level that is it, some models dont have the knob but all has the pressure switch ,,, take the 2 screws out of the console and pull forward at bottom and swing up to get to all the controls, be sure to have your washer unplugged when doing this / larry

Kenmore 80 Series will not fill up with water

if your washer will agitate when set to fill but not fill, then your pressure switch is bad.
also you may want to check and see if you are getting both hot and cold to your washer.

Kenmore 80 Series - water wont fill to full load

remove edge decore trims from left and right side front of control panel8b608f8.jpg
remove phillips screws from bottom corners of contol panel
remove knob from water level selector
raise control panel ~1 inch then flip over backwords on pivots
depress lock tab on right/underside of water level control body where it touches metal mount plate
rotate water level control body 45deg anti clockwise
pull body off
top side of body next to knob shaft is 1/8 hex head bolt
turn clockwise to rais water level
anticlockwise to lower water level
machine can be operated with this part not fitted so can check level. fill, adjust screw, fill will start again, adjust screw, until water level is correct
reinstall in reverse order
Incidentally, the cause is a VERY small wire spring inside the control body that is not really up to the task, and stretches over years.
Its a common occurrence, and I make this repair, on callouts, no parts required, couple times a month you may have to flip the switch to reset to get the water to restart filling

Kenmore 80 series heavy duty 3 speed

This problem is generally caused by a pressure switch failure. The pressure switch controls when to shut the water inlet valve off at the appropriate level and is located behind the load level or water level selector knob on the operator console. Before assuming, however, that you have a defective switch, read the following link first:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r762094-washer_overflows

In the majority of the problems I have experienced with an overflow condition on a washer, it has been caused by the air hose coming off the pressure switch. Hopefully, this will be the case with your washer and will not require parts. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you require additional assistance.

remove plastic tube from switch body
Blow any water out, should be empty when washer is empty messes up pressure sensing
