This RROD fix works great. Did it to mine. Consider this if you are no longer under warrenty cuz this will void it if it is.

You can get RROD repaired for free, depending on the error code, speak to customer services, either e-mail or telephone, see microsoft.com, they'll tell you what to do.

Sounds like you have a fault with the GPU, same fix as the RROD, you need to do the RROD repair.

My xbox 360 has no video or sound... No splash screen, nothing... Just a black screen.. No RROD.. I tried 3 av cables and same result.. plaese help

Probably the same problem as the RROD, just without the lights. Reflowing the CPU and GPU and replacing the thermal compound with Artic silver 5 should fix the problem.

During game play my video went to garbage and RROD

if your 360 is still in warranty try to send it back to microsoft and ask for recall, cause it´s a hard problem to fix..RROD is terrible to fix, here in Brazil we have the same problem even worst sometimes...to fix your 360 you will need to reflow the bga solder points under the 360 GPU processor.. it is located under the dvd drive...and under the gpu heatsink..after reflowing your gpu..you will need to apply a thermal paste called artic silver...try to change the gpu heatsink with another better one...and install a internal coolermod...Any doubts call me...search for thermalright TR-360 the solution for XBOX !!! Good Luck !!!

Xbox 360 problem

Most likely not.

The normal warranty on an Xbox is 1 year.

Due to the number of consoles with the rrod issue, Microsoft extended the warranty for the rrod specific problem to 3 years .

If you're within the 3 year windows but the tamper seal is broken, you can expect to have to pay for the repair.

When i turn my xbox 360 on one light in the bottem right corner flash red and it reads E 74 error but when i unplug the xbox from the t.v it doesnt flash red, does this mean we need a new wire

one red light means the video card is dead not the cord and unfortunately cannot be fixed and to make it worse this error is not covered by warranty, if you want it under warranty tel microsoft wen you ring that it has 3 red flashing lights (RROD) not 1 as this error is covered by warranty

XBOX 360 - E74 WITH ONE RED LIGHT

Usually when the AV is disconnected all four lights flash red. Cheapest thing to do first is try another AV cord.

However, it's possible that your 360 has been refurbished and the hardware has the chip in a warped position.

If it isn't the AV cable:
You can order a kit for RROD on ebay for about $7.00. Same hardware as what you'd need.
What you have to do is replace the hardware (x clamp) on the video chip the same way it's done when an xbox gets the RROD. reheat the chip so that it connects again by letting it run for about 5-7 minutes with the fan disconnected, turn it off again, wait about 30 seconds and then turn it back on. I fix 360's with this error code at least 3 times a week.

In some cases after doing the clamp trick you will get RROD. No worries, just follow the proccess above and everything will run smoothly.

Scratched Xbox 360 motherboard

Hi,

Usually if a motherboard has been scored or damaged.
( tracks or resistors/capacitors dislodged et,c )
The board is in the Bin. ( scrap ) unless the damage can be repaired. The RROD Or red-ring of death. Is usually due to the x-clamps fitted to the console initially, by the manufacturer.
Replacing the x-clamps, with a kit ( bolts/washers thermal Compound ) And 4 x heatpads recommended. Can cure the RROD. And in my own experience the 1 red light And E74 error.

Bottom line, if the boards scratched. it,s in the Bin.

Make sure you have all the clamps on the chips tight. If one pops loose it will cause this.
