SOURCE: portable dvd player will play music cds but not video dvds

Chances are, your DVD player uses one laser to read CDs, and a different laser to read DVDs (since Cds and DVDs are read at different wavelenghts of light). If the DVDs you're trying to watch work properly in other DVD players, it probably means that the DVD laser is dirty, damaged, or burned out. Though you can try cleaning the laser (use Google for suggestions on how to do this, or check the Audiovox website), you will most likely have to get the DVD player repaired, or buy a replacement. Many of the newer CD/DVD players sold today use a single combination laser, which reads both CDs and DVDs, which means that when the laser fails, it will not work at all. Wish I had better news for you, but I guess that the only consolation you have is that your Audivox player still works with CDs...

Sony 5 disc cd player won't play 5 cds but plays just 1 disc

Check the mode of operation. There can be a setting where it just plays one disc. Random or mixed will give you more songs to get to other discs.

Region problem and disc not reading

For your region problem:
1. Be sure there is no any disc inside the device.
2. Power on your player
3. Press <Menu> on remote
4. Using your remote control enter the code below, note that you must know what Region your player is CURRENTLY set to in order to know which code is appropriate:
for Region 1 use 2, 9, 3, 3, 4
for Region 2 use 3, 8, 7, 6, 7
for Region 3 use 5, 6, 7, 3, 2
for Region 4 use 7, 6, 8, 8, 4
for Region 5 use 5, 3, 8, 1, 4
for Region 6 use 2, 4, 4, 6, 2

5. A code should be displayed on the screen indicating the current Region setting of your unit.
4. Press the 9 (or 0) button on your remote control for Region free, or 1 for Region 1, 2 for Region 2 and so on...
5. Double press the <Menu> button on your remote
6. Enjoy :)

For vcd problem...Make sure that the Cd is written in a format which is compatible with the format with your dvd player. If you have a dvd player that can play formats like, avi, wma, etc. check that your cd writer is set on high quality mode and that the writing speed isn't set too fast. hope i was able to help^^

Volume Control??

Unlike low-end hi-fi systems where you buy one box that does everything, the CD player you have is part of a component hi-fi system (i.e. you buy your CD player, tuner, amplifer etc. as separate items.) This is why there is no volume control. It needs to be connected to an amplifer. It's on the amp that you will find the volume control and where you connect the speakers. (When you connect it to your television, you are just using that amp in the TV instead.)

The CD player did originally ship with a remote control, but I don't know where you would be able to buy one on its own. You may find the the remote does allow you to alter the output level of the CD player, but you still need to connect it to a proper amp to get it to work.

Hope this helps,

Matt

LH-T550 Surround Sound System (LV)

Have u pressed the dvd/cd button on the dvd remote? I have had this set up for over 12 months and never had a problem with it. We have had my laptop connected to it playing mp3s from it through media player, had the karaoke machine connected up to it through the surround sound. It also plays mp3 cds which u may have created yourself.
