My panasonic DMP BD 60 displays no disc and won't play when I insert a disc, it does this on both blue ray and standard DVD. I have tried powering it off and unplugging it and the problem continues

Same problem here and this is what fixed it. Plug the LAN cable from your modem to the back of the blue ray player. Press the setup button on the bottom left of the remote. Goto the "Others" option and select firmware update. It takes a few minutes, but will install the appropriate updates and you'll be g2g.

The laser mechanism has lost its ability to focus properly. Not cost effective to repair. Get a new one.

Why won't my blue-ray player DMP-BD87 play blue-ray disc's any more?

Because Blue-Ray isn't what it's cracked up to be. In fact no TV studio will even consider using one.

CAN THE panasonic dmp bd35 PLAY 3D BLU-RAY DISKS

I understand the DMP BD35 is a normal blue ray disk player and not a 3D. Please see this manual if you want to be doubly sure.

However something like a DMP BDT360 will play 3D blue ray discs and you can view it on a 3D ready TV.

Hi have just bought a panasonic blu ray player model dmp-bd77 here in australia we have put in a b/ray dvd from the usa that plays perfectly but when we have put in another american dvd(not blu ray a...

Every blu ray or dvd player sold in the world comes as standard unlocked to play any disc from any region. On the fifth play of a disc the DVD or Bluray will become locked to that region. So if you play 5 USA dvd's on the player after the fifth disc has been played only US dvd's will be recognised by the player, Same applies to BLUrays. So if i were you i would be careful about what discs you are putting in the player. Otherwise you will be left with a bluray player that cannot be used in Australia. After that happens the only way to play other region discs would be to get the player unlocked. Another point to add , a blueray player has two lasers one to play bluray and another to play DVD's. Lasers can fail so you could be able to play DVD's but not Bluray or vice versa depending on which laser has failed.

There are two different lasers on the drive.. Red for DVD and CD.. Blue for Blu Ray..

The Blue Laser may have failed.

Of course it always helps to check drivers and firmware updates for the drive itself. There was one firmware update 12/2010 for this player at the Panasonic USA website (support) Version 1.43

Finally Check your BD Ratings settings. There is a setting that could prevent all Blue Ray Discs from being played. It should be set to NO LIMIT which allows any rating. Page 24 of your manual.

Best of luck!

You might have to update the firmware on it. This usually involves connecting the Player to the internet though your home network, and then in menu go to update. Best buy can do this for a fee if having trouble.

All of a sudden at least 50% of the Blu ray's I try to play, the display say cannot read disc. All regular discs play fine.

Have you tried upgrading the firmware to the latest? I had a similar problem and this fixed it. If you don't have your player connected to the internet you can download the firmware and burn it to a CD then insert the CD into your player. Here is the place you can download it: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/Blu-ray-Disc-Players/Drivers-Downloads/model.DMP-BD60K.D#ts
