You should configure first the setting of the network, and it can only be done by requesting to your network provider to send to you a configuration setting, after you recieved it, you'll need to save that setting and it will automatically configure the set up.

red off button normaly stops the browser you have to be carefull not to press the globe button you you keypad this may of got stuck. you need to go in to the browser settings and remove the gprs settins to stop it loading the network internet up but this may require a repair
If you have nextel you go to settings>advance>master reset put in six zeros and enter and that resets everything that is what I learned on my phone from nextel
