Turn off the ps3. when you turn it back on by the console hold the button down until you hear a beep, keep holding it down until you hear a second beep, this will reset the format back to normal, if you have hdmi or anything else you can change it then from your video settings menu.

Trying to connect my 50 inch 50PC3D plasma tv, to my playstation 3 using HDMI cable. The tv is giving me an invalid format, is there an explanation/solution to this?

The PS3 video resolution setting is too high for the TV to work, please see your PS3 user manual on how to lower the resolution to the native resolution of this TV.

Model 60PY3DF plasma lg tv has no picture but has perfect sound. Can U help?

Try unplugging the receiver for ten seconds, if that fails check the cabling. Lastly, try cycling inputs by hitting your input or source button.

I have a ps3 and cant get a picture on my 42" LG

Ok, you need to do the following :

Turn the PS3 off into standby (red light on)

Press and hold the power button. It will beep when you first press it, beep again 5 seconds. Release the power button when you hear this second beep.

The PS3 will start up and reset the display

Make sure you do this with the HDMI cable connected.

Hope this helps

Sometimes get "invalid format" when trying to run a video from my laptop.

i feel the images may not be of the same resolution as your plasma is ready to except  check the res of the images using photo shop or any other imaging software set the res of the image to the last seen image on the screen this should be able to solve your problem

Ps3 reset

turn the PS3 off. hold the power button for at least 5 seconds or until you hear another beep.
This should reset all your ps3's settings.  If you have an HDMI connection, wait for a couple of seconds so that the PS3 recognizes and negotiates the right video output for your TV.

Zenith Z42P3 "Invalid Format" message from upconverter DVD

Ran into the same problem with this DVD player and my LG tv. Try this:
Open the DVD tray, with the DVD tray open press the HDMI select button until the proper resolution for your tv is illuminated, put the DVD back in, close the tray and try again. Simple fix -- worked beautifully for me.

Good luck
