Model 9P5514 C101 Serial 45390840 Chassis #PTV 836 In the service mode-is there a list a factory presets? My tv has bad color and a friend of a friend came out to help. He didn't write down the settings and now I want to reset it to find out what it should look like. My father in-law said he has one that needed new bulbs. Maybe mine needs it. I get good sound, audio, and am able to make channel changes, just got a crappy picture, (red's are too bright, looks like an old 70's tube that is shot). What can I do?

Let's check and see if we can find the correct board with the problem. A good place to start is to disconnect the jumper jack 1516 [TV unplugged first]. Now plug in the TV, and power the TV on. If the tubes light up and shut down...then the small signal module is at fault. {this contains convergence ICs} Or it could possibly be the ssb [small signal board] is bad. Leave the set unplugged for a few days and plug in and power up this TV..It may work for a few seconds and go down again. These are two good places to start before you pull the boards out...and they are not easy!

Have you turned your tv to the av input mode?

i would try the magnavox website,just go to support or customer service and they should have a manual there.if not let me know how you make out.

There is a diagnostiv computer program that is available that can pin point any problem with that chassis just by clicking on its symptons and it only 25.99 at the following link. they email it and all you do is install the program. Its real user friendly and they provide free tech support by on lline instant messageing. I will post the link the program is listed in their TV diagnostic programs section They have the PTK 169 program. Its a good program to help diagnose and repair your set.

All different brand of PTV has there way of excisting out of the service mode, panasonic don't list it, very hard to do, turn tv off then you see.

You will probably need the service manual for both chassis to straighten that out. On the tv panel push and hold volume down until volume is all the way down and keep holding, then push the info button on the remote.

On a standard PU1 chassis use the following:

1. Decrease the volume to 0
2. On remote press and hold the MUTE button till the color of MUTE displayed changes color. At the same time press MENU on the front of the Tv.
CH +/- to select
Vol +/- to change value

All other chassis:
Decrease the volume to 0, Press mute and video at the same time.
Adjust the TV with menu select buttons on remote.
Exit with the power button.
