If your Dell 1815DN is jamming at Document Feeder (ADF assembly) the display may read Document Jam. You should replace the ADF Seperation Pad (Part# D1815-Z3) and the ADF Pickup Assembly (Part# D1815-Z4). Here is a video that shows you how. Iteminc.com has these parts and ships same day.

When sending a fax do i place the paper with the print side up

You place the paper face side up when feeding through the loader on top. You can also scan the fax in placing the paper face side down on the glass plate of the scanner portion.

Unwanted verticle line on fax copies

Most likely a fax has been sent or a page copied with 'white out' (Liquid Paper), still wet on the page. As the page feeds over the scanner, (a narrow strip of glass that runs across the width of the page along the feed path) the wet liquid paper comes off on the glass as a thin line and dries. Thereafter, when copying, scanning or sending a fax, the scanner light does not go through the liquid paper streak and the result when printed is a thin vertical line that runs the full length of the page. If this is the cause you will also find that faxes you send to other people will also have this line (although faxes you receive are not affected by this problem with your machine).

To fix the problem: follow the path that the paper travels when sending a fax or making a copy, until you find the scanner (narrow glass strip). Take a clean, soft cloth and a small amount of methylated spirit (or white spirit) and remove the now dried Liquid Paper from the glass. Clean the whole strip ensuring that the glass is left clean and dry.

Whats the scan platform

Scan platform in english is Were you shove the stuff to send ;) ie dirty feed roller, paper detect switch stuck or fragments of paper in original feeding paper path area or feeding stuff too thick or stiff, or if multi document issue it is the pad or roller that sits under the main feed roller...al this is nothiong to do with paper tray full of blanks it is the original feeler area on top..

Same error should occur doing local copy, check feed section/roller

Cheers hope that helps

Adf sporadically pulls fax/ copy through top

Yes,but the most imported part for dubble feeding is the sepatation pad, this white pad is on the lower part of the docfeeder and work with the feed rollers, fist make sure that pad is clean before you replace the rollers, and then replace the pad.

I have HP all in one. The feed for fax stopped working. how do I fix it.?

try copying blank pages. If it feeds the paper, then try faxing again. If it does not feed the paper, then open the feeder and clean the rollers and the separator pad. You can use a coffee filter moisten with distilled or bottled water to clean them.

Try copying blank pages again to check if it feeds the paper.

Goodluck!

HP Officejet 6310 wont copy or fax from top loader. To send a multipage fax I have to send each page separately

When you slide the pages into the top loader you reach a small plastic tab and probably stop there. Push pages in another 1/2 inch or so and you should hear a beep indicating the paper now is in far enough.

Copying and fax sending problem

  1. Just check & clean the dust in the original feeding area.
  2. if not solved, clean the Document feed sensor or replace the same. But for this you need to open the body of the fax machine.
