I also have a nearly 3 year old Samsung FPT5084X XAA 50 inch 1080p tv that will not turn on as of tonight. I checked my power source and it is fine. The tv power light will blink and make a chirping noise. From what i have read tonight on the internet it has to be the tv power source. How much does it cost to fix? how much for the labor? The BN59-00599A remote was included with several Samsung TV models, including the FP-T5084. While it can be used to control some other devices in your home theater system, it doesn't have codes for other TVs. The section on setting the remote for DVD players, VCRs and other devices starts on page 20.

I wish that I had better news for you. To control the Bush TV, look for a generic universal remote that was programmed more than 6 months after the TV was manufactured. (Not all remotes will list codes for Bush TVs, however the code for another brand may work.)

The problem is 4 capacitors on the power supply board. Just had mine done under warranty. They (Sears) replaced the whole power board but you can get larger capacitors and just replace those for alot cheaper if not under warranty.

Do not bother replacing the whole power supply for just a few well known bad capacitors on it!
Just get quality ones (both better quality *and* higher breakdown voltage) and you won't have this problem ever again...well at least for sure not before a tons of other issues.
