I am having slow connection speeds. I called my ISP and they say there is no problem on their end and they are not doing work on my lines at all. I use programs that require high speed connections but I have gone up to 2000ms ping times. once in a while it mentions DNS problems and MTU not being high enough.

Check your configuration on your PC, see if it is pointing on a DNS that was previously identified. Make sure it is in automatic. also check your router as well as the signal strength. I suggest don't use the router and directly connect your computer to the internet connection just to check the speed and compare. if it is ok then your router is your problem. check its configuration and set it properly.

Buffering is typically the result of a slow internet connection. This can be at your end of the connection, your ISP or the site you are viewing the video from. I have a sbg901 motorola ca el modem/router combo. My comcast network gives me speed of 20mbps. The issue I have is that the network often gets disconnected sometimes very frequently. The second issue I...

This sounds like network issue ISP...call them they will trouble shoot for you..ping your modem ..is this wifi or lan that's dropping speed ? Take a Ethernet plug one end into modem and the other end into your computer , if it stays on it's not your modem . When you test modem make sure router is not attached, This will tell you its your router is dropping wifi..now if this does not work on the modem it's the modem or ISP...if you have combo modem with router still plug Ethernet to test connection...I can go more into detail just don't want to confuse you...I hope this help...

Router getting a very weak conection

First things first, take the roouter completely out of the picture. Connect you PC directly to the Modem. That is wall > modem > PC

is the connection still weak?

Do a speed test connected this way: http://www.speedtest.net/

If you get the download speed your ISP said you would, then we have a good place to start. If not, make sure ALL phones plugged into ANY socket in the house have filters on them.

run the speed test again... if still slow, call your ISP and complain, you are paying for a service, it is up to them to provide you that service.

If you are getting your download speed, then reattach the router : wall > modem > router --- wireless.

do the download speed test again, is it different? If it is, then you need to tweak your wireless settings.

Your ISP will have detailed support pages on your equipment and how to best configure it.

If not, perform the tests above, and if nothing jumps out at you, then provide more detail and list another question.

Good luck and don't forget to vote.

Slow internet at 120 Kbps but fast connection at 54 Mbps Why

54 Mbps is the speed between your computer and your wireless router. The .8 Mbps is the speed of your connection between the router and the internet. You should call your ISP and ask what your speeds should be; there could be something wrong on their end or your modem might be malfunctioning. It's also possible that your WiFi connection itself has a weak signal. That can be corrected by moving the router and the computer closer together, or getting a signal relay and putting it between them.
