NO dISC Always Returned No Matter The Media.

I Have Opened The Unit, And Cleaned The Laser.
Mounting Spring Is Still Functional, Everything Moves Fluidly.

Slide Rails Are Well Lubricated, There Is No Traction Resistance Through The Motions.

All Ribbon Cables Are Connected Properly, Both Standard And Micro Inside The Drive Itself.

Again, The Unit Is APEX AD-3201. Purchased New In December 07, Worked For A Few Weeks And Was Handed To Me As "broken" LoL..

I had this same problem with my Apex AD-500W DVD Player. I decided since everyone said the player basically needed to be replaced it wouldn't hurt to go through the buttons on the remote just to try and figure it out......I DID!!!! I turned on my DVD Player, inserted a disc, turned on my tv and then hit the SYSTEM Button right below the power button until the screen said MULTI and the machine started working perfectly. There are 3 settings in that button, PAL which made my screen go crazy, NTSC ( i have no clue) and MULTI(this one made it work)! Hope it also works for all of you!!!

My DVD player has played fine until today. Now no matter what DVD I put in, it just keeps saying on my TV screen, "This Disc Cannot Be Played". What should I do? Thank you for your...

Do you have a lens cleaning disc, if so play it. That should do the job. Also confirm if it plays audio Cd's. If it plays audio CD's it will confirm that the loading tray is Ok and all the motors are functional.
All DVD players use a dual laser pick up. One is for Audio CD's / VCD's/MP3 and the other is for DVD. If you have been playing more than 1000 hours of DVD the laser unit itself could have failed. Any try the cleaning disc first. A replacement laser unit could cost you 20$ plus service charges.

Keeps saying open tray after reading disc

the lasers probably loosened up with the vibration. if its outa warranty take the disc drive apart and look for the tiny screws on the underneath of the rails the laser moves on. (the rails rest on the screws). tighten them a quarter turn at a time and test the xbox after each turn until it reads.
and to be on safe side give the laser a clean while your at it
hope that helps

Wont read discs

The unit needs to have the laser reader lens cleaned but DONT use regular rubbing alcohol. Get pure stuff....the rubbing type leaves a glare on glass and plastic lenses.
Also ,the chrome rails that the laser moves along need to be cleaned and lubed with liquid silicone. This method clears read problems most of the time.

Bose 321 system reads bad disc on all dvds

if will not read a laser lens cleaning disc , then it will need to be opened up and the laser lens will need to be cleaned manually with the cleaning solution and a cotton tip , but do it easy and dry the lens with the cotton tip
if that don't do it then the laser mechanism will need replacing

Won't read the disc

The laser can not read the disk
· Bad spindle motor or spindle height which is what spins the cd
· Transverse motor \gear this is the motor that moves back and forth to read the different groves in the cd some what like a album does.
· Laser is bad or week

My dual layer DVD burner wont read any media

When was the last time you cleaned the dust out of the laser head? Or your PC, for that matter? Just asking.

There are cleaner disks that work sometimes, or you can go in with a cleaner foam swab with a little alcohol on it. Worth a try.

No disc

Maybe you have dirty lens! clean the lens with 100% cotton then slightly rub the lens at clockwise movement! or you have defective flex ribbon wire or laser eye!
