My Sony portable DVD player DVP-FX730 stopped playing. I only get the blue Sony screen. I tried 20 DVDs and only one works. Any idea how I fix this? Thanks

Maybe the spindle motor is defective so it cannot read the disc. just bring that your dvd to sony service center to fix your dvd.

Where can I purchase battery for fx730 portable DVD player

Unfortunately you can not buy a new battery since it is not sold by Sony. It is possible to patch a similar cell into your existing battery. Be warned that it would be difficult to do this.

here is an answer anyway--if will not play a disc "cannot play disc etc" usually it is either a dirty or bad optical pickup in the unit.

Hi, I have a sony portable dvd player (DVP-FX730). Is there any way I can make this region free? (currently region 2)

Hi,
I'm afraid, there is no way to change region code in Sony dvd players including DVP-FX730
I'm sorry for that.
Thanks.

Wont play disc..what is wrong

Too vague of a questionbut here goes. 1. Check disc for scratches. Could be directory is corrupt. 2. Are you sure it is eitrher an Audio CD or a Video DVD? If it is a computer data CD it won't play. If it is a DVD Rom it won't play either.

Sony DVP-FX730 Portable DVD flashing "Hold on"

There should be a "hold" button to the left of the headphone jack that you can slide and it should stop your screen from displaying "hold on".
