Anyone know where to get a replacement for the perforated clear plastic bowl that holds vegetables or the rice bowl while steaming?
I didn't want to buy another steamer or pay half the price of a new one just to ship the basket, so I used a wide plastic tape on the outside of the basket--packaging tape like the post office or UPS uses. The plastic doesn't come in contact with food because it is on the outside of the basket. It has been on there and been through several steamings and through the dishwasher for weeks now, and has stayed on. It gives the basket enough stability that I can make it last a little longer. Of course, I couldn't use it on the bottom where the holes are. But, if your basket is only cracked a little on the sides, this might work for you.

I would not recommend replacing just the plasic basket, too expensive. Once the plastic parts begin to fail, the uint has seen better days (our basket was still ok, but the unit started to leak out the bottom and the timer would stop during the steaming).
Bought a replacment B&D Handy Steamer, oval shape allows longer food items to be steamed (approx 10"x8"), water res & can be filler while steaming. Price was $25 in local hardware (Jan 09). Not worth fixing the old one IMO.

My Black and Decker Handy Steamer HS80 is having the same problem with the steaming bowl. It is so full of cracks and is no longer usable. It made wonderful rice and I miss not having it. I want to find a replacement bowl for it.
