the drivers might not be installed correctly you might have to uninstall the graphics card restart your computer then reinstall the graphics card and its drivers

Actually, it IS the "updated" driver that is CAUSING the problem. I dropped back to an older, version 179.15, GeForce driver and it works fine. The newer 196 and newest release driver both cause the display to sleep.
